Well, after several years off the bicycle, I picked up another MTB. Was trying to do it on a tight budget, and watching for a 29er. I preferred full suspension back when I was an avid rider. But it really wasn't in the budget, that BIG speeding ticket I recently got wasn't helping! So, I found a good deal on an Iron Horse Maverick XC. Not a high end bike by any stretch of the imagination. But it will allow me to get back into riding on a budget, and see if my heart (legs) is really into it. Cleaned and tuned it up, and taken a few quick spins around my property on it, on a little trail I built for my son to ride his Honda 50 on. So far, it's not bad. Decent cheap spec Shimano rapid fire shifters, and cheap Tektro cable pull discs.

Welcome back. Check Pricepoint.com for deals on 29er frames. Ditto with Performance and Nashbar.

    Probably not.

Mostly a mt bike rider so I always carried my tools, pump, in my camelbak.

Picked a Salsa Vaya2 Cross bike for a long ride and now I need a good frame pump or do you carry it in that little bag behind the seat or a bag on the frame. What's a great pump? How about a bike computer? Is a Garmin Edge 200 too over the top? Would like something wireless.:ear:ear

I'm running an older Forerunner 201. Does the same things as the 200 AND you can run with it!

Oh, and since the 301, 910X and the Edge series have come out, you can get em for less.

I run Lezyne pumps, on both bikes. They offer a high-pressure (road) and low-pressure (MTB). My only complaint is that I'd like them to have a psi gauge. Both pumps mount to the bottle cage mounts.

Step up to the Garmin 500, as it'll monitor cadence and HR. If you're not so much interested in GPS, the Cateye Strada Wireless is a nice, reliable option.

I'm using a Lezyne Road Drive and a Garmin Edge 500 and am very happy with both.

I'm having some pretty serious bike lust for this one:

Would put some fenders on it and use it as my wet day training bike / commuter / early season dirty road day bike.

Is it wrong to have four bikes?:loll Probably the wrong place to ask that question.

Nothing wrong with four bikes, but fenders on a carbon CX bike would be an abomination.

If you're not man enough to get wet, you're not man enough for that bike. :deal

Maybe true, but it rains nine feet a year in this town. NINE FEET!!
Fnders are just a fact of life and they make some good quick disconnect ones too. In fact you aren't invited on some group rides without fenders.
