That's a great way to find out your range , turn one tap off and let it run out .
you should have double the range then.

The fuel pump takes up quite a bit of space .

Oh man, I've actually seen the fuel light come on at 100mi under city driving conditions (with both tanks open, '07 990). BUT, I've also seen the fuel light come on at 170 mi cruising across Wyoming... Just depends on the conditions I guess. Having all the gas turned on def helps, but lower gearing hurts... Until you twist that throttle! :super

Yeah, that pump doesnt take up much space at all. I would say 250 mls is too high, probably a lot less.

With the injected bikes fuel consumption will be all over the board depending on conditions. I can get as low as 30 mph near sea level pounding the throttle in sand and rock, or I have gotten 56 mpg cruising along near 4000 meters elevation.

They definitely like elevation. I rode the Durango-Dolores-Rico-Telluride-Ridgeway-Silverton loop a week ago in some scattered showers and got 46 mpg without ever using 6th gear.

    Fuel type makes a difference.
I rekon if i could sit on 100 kph i'd get 350 maybe more?

I'm lucky to get 200 around Shitney before the reserve light comes on but on the highway I'll get about 300 odd.
It's apparently all in the wrist :lol3

my 990 varies in mpg more than any bike i've ever owned. all depends on whyat type of riding i'm doing. in lots of stop and go riding i've gotten as little as 90mile before light. in mostly highway as much as 160miles before light. probably sumething to do with teh crappy fi at the lower rpms on the bike.

I thought it was much different , sorry .

A friend of mines 990 ran out of gas before my fuel light came on my 950 .

We had maxed out our tanks because we knew the fuel stops in western Montana were spaced out .
