This morning Austin Vince released a preview of the intro sequence for his new film Mondo Sahara. I'm the lanky one in the tan overalls that screams manically at the camera! Can't wait for the film released, planned for October this year. Joe McManus carrying out some last minute frame strengthening/luggage supports Pablo Gustavson realising that the front rack that Austin used on Mondo Enduro actually fits the Honda XR400 with no modification Eric Sowle, fitting the pannier frame that we fabricated, to carry the Kriega Overlander 60 system. (and obviously thinking "How expertly made this frame is, and how effortlessly it fits the bike!") Hitting the trails the moment we arrive in Spain. We were in for a very very wet time in Spain...
Indeed Austin, we'll have a movie of this adventure soon, Insha'Allah! Mr. Vince valiantly volunteered to have the first accident, on some ultra-slippery Spanish asphalt. (just moments before Paul had pulled over and warned the group that the surface was crazy-slimy, and we all ought to be very careful!) We were hoping for at least a splash of sunshine in Spain, but it was not to be. The wettest November in decades meant widespread flooding and a liberal helping of mud. When we agreed to this epic Sahara adventure, this isn't quite what we had in mind. By the time we got to the bottom of Spain, we'd all had a chance to practice 'putting the bike down'. This expert demonstration performed by Paul Castle. The ferry from Spain to Africa gave a natural pause to the trip, and we took time to reflect. The first reflection was the fact we'd not washed since London, and then at mediocre quality of our cardboard carton red wine! The last view of Spain before we head into Africa.

Well..in Spain we putted the ultra-slippery asphalt only for the mad english bikers for that matter of adventure I hope that Vince no have bad inference of this fall
We're having a very small scale pre-release film screening this weekend.... Sorry for late notice! Film kicks off at 8:30pm, so we're asking people to arrive at about 7:45pm. The plan was to ride from London to Mauritania, to the heart of the Sahara desert. 5 weeks and 4,000 miles predominantly off road, culminating in a multi-day unsupported desert lunge, digging up buried caches of food, fuel and water. This is the film of our adventure. This film will not be released until October/November, and this is not the final production. Be one of the few people to see this film before its public release at this test screening! Mondo Sahara creator Austin Vince, and riders Paul Castle and Gabriel Bolton will be at the screening. There will be a Q&A session after the film and we're keen to get as much viewer feedback as possible. Your thoughts and comments will shape the final cut of the film. I can't wait until this DVD comes out! Then Austin needs to do another Mondo movie! Maybe Mondo Mongolia?
