I'm traveling to Beijing for business near the end of the month and will have a day or two on my own. Anyone english-speaking in the area have a chance to show me around? I'd need to rent a bike and gear, but am plenty experienced.
Have a look over at MyChinaMaoto website: http://www.mychinamoto.com and this thread: http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/showthread.php?5053-China-Motorbike-Tour-amp-Rental-Company China does not recognise international and overseas driving licenses and you might find it very hard to find a legal and legit outfit that rents bikes with the proper paperwork and insurance. However, years ago tourists (short term visitors) were able to get a temporary driving license at the Beijing Capital International Airport and Shanghai International Airport but have no current info available and have not heard of anyone obtaining one in either Shanghai or Beijing in recent times. Add-on: if your into track-days by any chance, http://www.bg-performance.com rents bikes and full gear at China race tracks like Zhuhai Intl. Circuit, Shanghai Intl. Circuit and Beijing Goldenport Circuit....
