Big John, It has killed me to follow the build-up to this year's inaugural CAM1000, from the sidelines. I desperately wanted to make it out there with you guys this summer. "Life" managed to get in the way --- despite my best efforts to push some headaches (aka: long and protracted Divorce proceedings... ) out of the way, I could not pull it off this year... But I am VERY happy to be the 2nd "IN" you've got for the CAM1000 v 2.0 for 2013. Looking forward to it, like you would not believe.... (Trust me, I NEED this... ) "COorbust"
I'm in. I bought a KTM 525 2 days ago and started ordering parts for it to replace my heavy, underpowered KLR 650. I keep this one in Colorado as well as the KLR. I plan on doing some of your other meets as well with it.
Please consider me IN for 2013. It pained me to no end that I had to excuse myself the week before departure due to work Mark
I am very excited to report that the 2012 event raised $2,000 for the Trails Preservation Alliance, who fight to keep our trails and access open to riding in Colorado. In the next few weeks, the RMAR Board of Directors will present a check to the TPA Director, Don Riggle.
Geez John, You're like the freakin' energizer bunny when it comes to organizing rides. Not even three days after finishing the 2012 CAM 1000 and you're already pushing next years ride. Good on ya and thanks!! I'm still cleaning my gear..... And yes, I'll be there. Tom
yeah, I have a serious case of......"don't want to go back to work" this week. Has anyone figured out how to be on continual, motorcycle vacation....and pay the bills?
Video from our 2012 ride. <object> 2012 CAM 1000 Official Video <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/49637265?color=000000" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="562" width="1000"></iframe></object>
Great video. I was thinking how much I wanted to go, and that I was sure I could handle all that was thrown at me on my 955i Tiger. But wow! Some of that looked tough! Another justification to get a 2nd (smaller) ride!!!
Danno....I am certain you are a great rider, but this was no ride for a 955. I was pretty firm with folks about this being a 650cc ride or less. I accepted one rider on a 950SE....but he had also solo'd and completed the Baja1000....a riding monster, he is. For 2013, the CAM1k route will once again be a bit blutal in places and times. Unless someone has a very strong riding resume, I will once again be strict with the 650cc limit and a bike less than 350 lbs. We had one KLR start the ride this year, but dropped out. The lighter, street legal enduros are a much better fit. I just watched the video again (I watch it about once a week).....and I long for the ride and the friends. Man it was epic and I want to do it again tomorrow.
Starting to think about a route for 2013. Anyone have suggestions? I am looking for a unique route from 2012. /////
