Thanks.Had lots of scoots - lots of miles - only previous bikes that were as compliant and easy to ride fast were sport bikes and the GS does so much else better. (6 bags from grocery store, gnarly roads, etc)
Sadly, no gnarly adventure pictures here. Just the new (to me) factory lowered 08 R1200GS tearing it up in front of my house. I've added some interesting accessories though These are Rigid Industries dually lights mounted on an MC Products lightbar... If anyone has the entire MC Products lightbar/lexan headlight protector assembly and would like to part with the crossbar and lexan portions, I'd be interested (apparently they are not made any longer). https://www.rigidindustries.com/category-s/131.htm http://www.mcpparts.com/
Still me... I've also mounted a Givi Trekker 33L case as a topcase in place of the pillion seat. It matches up nicely to the OEM Vario cases. http://www.giviusa.com/cases-top-case/monokey/TRK33N The Trekker was mounted via an Altrider plate system. http://www.altrider.com/altrider-luggage-rack-system-for-bmw-r-1200-gs/pcid/635-1 I've also painted the tailpiece black...
Cant get rid 'a me quite so soon... I've also painted the metal side panels black... as well as the upper small side panel immediately in front of the seat. Those of you who are very observant, may also notice that I've painted the bit below the oil cooler black and added an (offset) BMW roundel....
And what does the future hold for me you may ask.. or not... Well, I'm presently exploring heated/long distance seats and windscreen upgrades. Retired now with (evidently) too much time on my hands. Need to ride more Addendum: Ive also added One Off Motor Sports HID lights, great upgrade from a very helpful vendor http://www.1offmotorsports.com/ Finally. I'm ambivalent re the mounting of the topcase as it makes getting on/off the bike more of an effort than it should be. There, now you're done with me.
This is the nicest GSA I've ever seen. Really nice. Most of it's too much for me, but I do like your skid plate, tank side protectors, fork protectors. I just got those tank side protectors from Twalcom because I've put it down a few times and already have had the tank poked. Don't want to spend $1100 on a new tank. Want those fork protectors too. Very nice.
Finally....! After purchasing back in November, I'm home long enough this week to take delivery of my new 2011 GSA. Rode it today for the first time too. WOW! No regrets in trading my K12GT for it. The Heidenau's look and ride nice too. All that's left is to add some protection pieces and have it painted. Not a fan of the yellow. Don't see it growing on me (the color). Spring can't get here soon enough!
Nice ride! Watch the Heidenaus I the wet... From personal experience - I took my rear off after 3000 kays viz
Funny...I thought exactly the same thing. Not to knock someone elses bike (especially a 30th anniversary...I have one!) but could this machine be any more offroad protected? And for what...? Afraid of banging it against fire hydrants or mailboxes in town? LOL. Just kidding...I think.
