Nice weekend- upper 50s, south winds and kinda hazy (skies)-

Went north up into Cache Valley 'cause I had to run some errands :deal

Mantua Res- the ice is melting fast (no one ice fishing today)

Out by Benson/Amalga- farmers have got a jump on the spring

The road over the top from Clarckston is still closed

  2. Great to see you back out on the bike :D

I've been to Cache Valley once back in June of last year. Cindy and I went up to the American West Heritage Center which was pretty darn cool. Beautiful country up there and I hope to ride some of those roads in the coming years :thumb

Snuck out to a part of UT I've never been- West/North of Delta, out in the western hills. Windy days-

The clouds stayed- high really windy
    [IMG]

Branched off to the north past Topaz Mtn into some old mines
    [IMG]

Road was gravel with a few sand traps in the washes
    [IMG]

As the road headed northish, I linked up with some of the Pony express route and turned west
    [IMG]

Back toward Delta and the red rock and sand
    [IMG]

Hard south wind blew me home- shortly hereafter

Sounds about right- it was WAY out past the power plant NW of topaz
Edit- several dirt/gravel branching systems out there- I just stayed on the "biggest one" as a guide until reaching the pony express route (the junction was also a bit contfusing/multiple branches)

After posting the pics from the weekend and scrolling other threads, I learned the deeply sad news re: the passing/early death of Rick, "Party Boss" who was injured in an accident last week.

I only knew Rick over about a 24 hr span, he stayed with us heading home from westfest. He was quiet, kind, respective of my family/boys. An excellent rider, he treated my oldest son (new rider) with praise, a few tips, and tollerance (in short showed great character).

I am heartend by 'banjo's remarks "can't be afraid to live"- and though I knew him only for a short period, believe Rick would agree. SOme re-posted pics from last year-
Rick (center) in my garage, 'banjo on left, my son on the right
    [IMG]

As we departed, wolf creek pass in the lower Uinta mountains (Utah)- Rick on the left
    [IMG]

Godspeed Sir- Glad I had the pleasure
  10. So sorry to hear this, Signal. Condolences to all who knew Rick.

It's nice to see some Utah photos, again!!

I sure was sorry to learn of the loss of friend Rick. Long ago, there was a time when when my friendships were fragile. I learned to Vietnam to treasure them. I still do and I know you know what I mean. Friends are the family you choose.

That's a cool bridge shot! :thumb At least if you had to work on the weekend you took advantage of the commute time.

Sorry about your friend, Rick. Always good to be out with friends and family. Special times that count most! :D

Signal, man, looks cold! No 70 degree days up north yet? Gotta ride that bike south if you get a day or two. Always nice to see a different part of the state. All good riding! Thanks. :D

My condolences on the loss of your friend Rick. We have some great folk on our site, and the loss of any of them is like family.

I to like that bridge shot. That would make a great 10 X 16 up on the wall. I gotta get me a pair of them electrified long johns! :lol3 I went out the other day in that temp not properly prepared, and I paid the price! :eek1 frozen .... I wuz cold!

A few 70 deg days, but I seem to be working when that happens-
I could have gone south, but honestly its hard to get past the urban mass without an overnight stay
    Thanks Riff-
I got the heated vest a couple years ago and love it- even when not on it is an excellent wind break and really comfortable for those 55 degree days with 40 degree mountain passes :D. I'm kinda long and lean, once I get cold it really can bite, have a tough time warming back up- the vest does it for me. No more hand dryers at the rest stop :lol3
  20. Great pics as always, Signal!

I'm going to be up in Price (by car again :bluduh ) for a day and a half next week so I can be there when Cindy and I found out whether we're having a son or a daughter :D It's looking like I'm going to move in early June

My condolences as well on the loss of your friend. I just lost one of my good friends who I never met in person but knew online. Best wishes to you and yours for the rest of this year.
