On their hand tools is a complete crock of shit. That is of, course, you saved you receipt from 6 years ago. I went into the local HF trying to swap some T handle Allen wrenches. The plastic handles had cracked on a few and actually broken off one. And despite, several signs in the store, on the packages, and even on my tools themselves that say "lifetime warranty" , They refused to do anything without a receipt. What a load of Bullshit. They could not produce this requirement any place in their policies at the store and the only thing that the online website says is to call a phone #. It sure as hell is not as easy as dealing with any other tool that I have with a lifetime warranty. <!-- / message --><!-- controls -->
I'm fighting with Lowes over a Kobalt ratchet too right now. First question was When did you buy it..... IT says Lifetime LAdy it doesn't matter. Now I have to wait till they get more in.
I broke my torque wrench and received a new one with no receipt. No questions asked. Maybe it was just the particular person you dealt with. Maybe I was lucky.
Snap-on and Craftsman are the only two that I know of that will replace them just because you have a broke tool. Harbor freight tools are throw away tools 90% of the time anyway.
*shrug* with hand tools figuring its an actual tool store (not a parts store, walmart or lowes) Ive never had a problem with just bringing in a broken tool and having it replaced no questions asked.
You're full of shit. Their warranty program took a 5 second Google search. I have the same $10 allen wrench set, and yes, one of the blue handles cracked, but overall I cannot complain as it has more than paid for itself. Before you flame any retailer about their lack of information, or that their information was misleading, try to have the facts first It's here: http://www.harborfreight.com/warranty-info
^Uh, that's what the OP said - proof of purchase needed. How does that make him full of shit? However, our local store has gone out of the way to replace a pair of pliers and a screwdriver that broke with no proof of purchase (I wasn't even sure the pliers were HF). It must vary by the store, the help, and if they had their coffee?
No it was the part about the website not having the warranty information online, " the only thing that the online website says is to call a phone #." Did you click on the link I included? ....and normally I don't use that tone but it irks me when someone badmouths a business (and not just the easy target that HFT is) without doing their homework. Took longer for the OP to post his beef than it would have taken to find the answer.
^Ah ha! Regarding website notification of policy, you are correct! Feces found! I mistook the object (receipt requirement) for the BS call (no notification). I'd never be a lawyer...
Sorry, No BS from me so you can take your tone and google skills and well , google them They seem to have a contadictory policy depending on the page you open Why don't you read what it says on the product page http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...-ball-point-and-hex-key-wrench-set-96645.html No Hassle eh? http://www.harborfreight.com/faq#7
+1, I did the same with a battery backup / jumper that I keep in my truck. Went to use the compressor part of it, wouldn't turn on, took it back and grabbed a new one no questions, no receipt. Is there another Harbor Freight near by? Might try that.
If it's an item that is worth using the warranty, darn right I keep it. If it's a set of $20 wrenches or a piece of chewing gum that proclaims "Long lasting flavor" I don't bother and take my chances.
Never had a problem with returns to HF. Ususualy have my receipt though. I ususualy keep my reciepts on the corner of the work bench till it gets cleaned. That means anywehre from a week to a year. Ususualy when I get a HF tool it is for a specific job. I will for sure keep the reciept till the job is done.
Buy real tools and quit whining. Just man up, if the broken handle hurts your widdle hand, wear a glove.
I was told years back when trying to get a ratchet replaced (bonney I think) it's the tools lifetime, not yours, that tool is worn out.
Sorry, the gloves won't fit over all the callouses or maybe it is because I bought them from a guy named OJ. He swore they would fit over anything
