Hey Steve, made this same ride through the Hayman Burn site myself in 2009. It's a beautiful area and I need to ride through there again.
Sorry for the crappy image quality, didn't have HD camera at the time.

Would be cool to meet you and ride with you some day. I live in the Castle Rock area.

Pause at 1:10 to catch the Shepard peeking at me in the back of the truck! :thumb

I took these before I came across this thread, so I don't have the angle correct.

Funny how that church was out in the middle of nowhere and now it's surrounded by a giant city.

Yeah, would've been cool to see this place 100 years ago. The whole point of this thread is how bizarre/crazy/cool/creepy it is that we are retracing the steps of those that were here before us.

Didn't figure out where that school is yet? :dunno

Interesting too, you can see the progression as the forest slowly covers the big outcrop on the left. Those may be the standing dead trunks of the large pine trees on the left, in picture 2, and notice how the large stand of pines on the right of the gorge are logged, then grow back...

Here's a couple of cool photos I found from a recent trip we did that went through the Canon City, Colorado area:

Funny thing is I didn't even know I had taken these almost matches until I got back and started looking through photos of the areas we had ridden!:D
