The fuel tank, if an actual BMW tank looks to from a pre-1955 single.

Tires are Avon Distanzia. Great tires IMHO . They stick, last a long time and have a rugged look. What's not to love ?

Shit, I thought they were a set of period Wehrmacht tires pulled off a BMW shot dead on it's way to Stalingrad.

Did the single have the compartment on top. I was guessing the 6 gallon /2 tank.

They are dual sport tires, good ones, but don't stick as well as pure pavement tires. And that bike seems very unlikely to ever see dirt?

Excellent tires, great in all weather, and stick like glue. I haven't rund a set of tires short of super stickey Pilot Power that stuck as well. For the look, that was a great choice!

It's crude looking, obnoxious, and loud. Everything a motorcycle should be.

It's beastly and antisocial, in the way that Harleys want to be but aren't. Coolest bike I've seen in a long, long time.

Trust me - I'd have no problem ridin' the livin' piss out of that thing.

What a great example of what a creative mind can do with what is supposed to be BMWs most boring bike.
Someone should move that picture to the BMWMOA forum, I'm sure it would give someone a heart attack.

I don't think any of their bikes are "supposed" to be boring. In fact the R1200R is quicker and corners better than any GS/A or RT due to its much lighter weight.

I've owned a R1200R for about 6k miles of riding and traveling. Great bike. Boring...? Compared to other naked bike options, most definitely. A Monster 1100, a Speed Triple,....those are its naked-bike brethren. And the choice becomes clear...if I have to tolerate the wind blast from a naked bike, that bike needs to be a hooligan.

The R1200R is nice, don't get me wrong. It's nice, like your elderly aunt is nice.

Great looking custom, and what i like the most is that footpegs are still in original place and no fat tire in the back.

Can someone please more closely define for me what is boring about an R1200R? I don&#8217;t want to argue but I want to know what you find boring. I&#8217;ve owned mine since 2006 and the bike will keep up with Ducati Monsters (850? Only one I&#8217;ve tried) and Triumph 1050 Tigers just fine. All while wearing the big boring hard bags. I believe I was carrying the discarded cold weather the Duck rider had no more use for. By boring do you mean practical? I&#8217;ve never ridden a Triumph hooligan bike but I think I&#8217;d like it. I&#8217;ve looked at other bikes (never ridden) but for one reason or other (fuel capacity, camping, gear capacity, rear seat for the wife) always just bought a new farkle for the R and stayed with it. It could be that I am just boring and so the R suits me just fine. I would however love to have an R with the gold plated upside down front forks. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Touring bike ergos on a naked bike are, IMO, just all wrong. I tried to fit lower bars to it, but they hit the tank. If I wanted to ride like a highway patrolman, I'd get the CHP bike.
