I'm from the South and have the luxury to be able to hit the trails, dirt roads, or tarmac pretty much year round.......except when I have to travel for work. In this case, I am being sent to Cleveland for the next 3 weeks. I will be missing my camping and riding flexibility. :cry

I'm posting here for some suggestions. What do you guys that ride do when it's snowing????? I need ideas....I hate sitting in a hotel room for days on end. I'll have my evenings and weekends free. What do you got?

What are you bringing with you?

This time of year is tricky, we can still get snow all the way into may. Cleveland is in the Heart of "Lake Effect Snow", no as bad as Buffalo but not pretty. Usually the cold water from the melted ice keeps the winds cool also.

I ride all year round but be warned, the salt used on the roads loves aluminum and chrome, as well as worn to bare steel.

Pending on what you like to ride, you will need to go a minimum of one hour south to get to any good riding. There rumors of small patches of riding in the suburbs but since I live an hour south, I have no clue as I avoid that area. Pretty much anything south of Rt 30 starts nice riding, south of Rt 39 is even better. Stay east of a line from Orrville to Newark.

There are also a number of pay to play MX tracks and a few trail places. I am a member of Crow Canyon and if the stars align, I can get you in there for $20 while I am there. There is a MX track and 400 acres of trails.

Well, I kind of had two motives for this post :D

I am driving the company car up, so I can't haul anything. I'm just trying to get an idea of other things to do with my free time while in the area. I can always bring the camping gear.

Also networking: Maybe catch up with some people to BS and talk bikes/travel, that sorta thing. I will be around Cleveland Heights, but will be venturing out when I'm not working.

We have a training center there, and if I'm ever up that way during the not so inclement weather season, I will probably be riding my VFR or DR650. I also ride a WR250f, but unfortunately I've got no way to get it there.

The guys in training typically only like to go out, stuff there faces, and drink beer. That's okay every once and a while, but not the kinda thing I enjoy doing everyday for three weeks. Kendall Cliffs in Peninsula was something I have taken up in the past. The more suggestions the better!

    If you have a car....
google for what's happening at these venues:
Hard Rock Rocksino-- brand new and they've been having some decent acts. (Marshall Tucker is tonite)
    Beachland Ballroom
House of Blues (you should spend at least one evening at E. 4th St. anyway.)
Hop on Facebook and search for the Cleveland Music Scene page. All the local bands and bars post up there...alot! Local bands are always fun.
    Other things to do:
    Visit Great Lakes Brewery.
Spend one evening in Tremont area.
Museum of Contemporary Art just opened a few months ago.
Pro Football Hall of Fame is in Canton, 1 hour south.
Cleveland Botanical Gardens is right next to the Art museum.
Horseshoe Casino is at Tower City in the middle of downtown.

I can help you with that, what dates are you going to be in town?

Right near Cleve Hts. ... Barking Spider, Beachland Ballroom, Grog Shop

Wilbert's and the House of (very little) Blues are downtown.

The West side has The Winchester, The Parkview, Brother's Lounge.

Oh, and there are lots of open local Jam Nights if you are a musician...

Bummer, didn't realize you'd be 2 wheeless. Rays is a definite to do. If you can throw a bicycle in the truck or back seat, there is Vultures Knob and Mohican mtb trails as well as the Cuyahoga National Park to ride in (easy walk/pedal trails)

I went and visited Ray's the last time I was here, but didn't have time to make a day out of it. Looks like I'll have plenty of time to give it a go now. Looks like I missed out on all of the Paddy's Day celebrations too. Oh well, I'll be checking several of these out. Oh, and I did manage to bring the camping/backpacking gear along so I'm open to suggestions for that as well. Thanks again peeps!

Buckley Trail, Cuyahoga National Park, Beaver Creek State Park & Mohican Sate park all offer hiking& camping. Mohican Mtb trail, 26 mile loop, all single track, lots of people walk it as well as some pedalers, lots of elevation.

AMA Hall of Fame about 2 hours southwest. Pickerington is a distant suburb of Columbus.

You are about 3.5 hours from Niagara Falls and legendary original Buffalo wings.

Just about 3 hours from the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, IN. An amazing collection of automotive history.

Pittsburgh is also a cool town to tool around in.
