Going to have to "modify" the frame a bit to give the drive chain a direct line to the rear wheel. I'm also going to have to stretch the swingarm by about 4".

I think he's a tease. had a 919 torn down in his shop and just set the forks in place. this isn't going to go anyplace.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Sadly the bike is still sitting in the same damn spot as the last time.

I'm doing some research regarding rear rim/hubs and that will determine the rear end that I ultimately use. I was going to use the stock 919 swingarm but it's so damn wide, a regular dirt bike rear hub will look downright dinky in there.

I had an 07 900 Hornet for 2 years,and traded it on a K8 ABS WeeStrom (but kept my 04 650 Transalp).

I've thought several times that the Hornet motor in the wobbly bouncy Transalp frame would have been far nicer than the CB ever was (for me anyway).

I suppose I'll have to keep an eye on this thread now...(Wonder how much a secondhand Hornet and Renthals,Varadero wheels/forks and a longer shock would set me back...?)

Any updates? Devoted 919 riders want to know.

Keeping tabs on the development of this cool project for sure. Makes me wish I had kept my wrecked 919 for dirtbike experimentation in the dark of night!

Many, many changes have popped up since I last updated this thread.

A new baby boy arrived, a new 919 donor bike showed up, new KTM 990 supermoto forks made their way on, and new KTM 950 Adventure wheels are on the way!

Here's where I am today.



The next step is to start chopping my spare 919 frame apart. I'm going to "move" the stock swingarm pivot down about 1" and back about 4". That will align the swingarm and chain angles. I'm also going to push the stock 919 tailsection straight back about 5" to make room for my new panniers. Then after I've really fucked up a good 919, I'm going to build a lower engine cradle and a custom exhaust. Fun stuff........

Anyone know the cheapest online source for TKC80's?

I've been keeping my eye on this thread for a while now. I'm interesting in doing something similar, starting with a 750 Nighthawk, using XR600 & 650 bits.
