I've only had the bike a week but the Lynx is really good - the HID low beam is excellent and the moving screen gives good protection and definitely reduces noise. I still have some work to do on the Lynx as I want to mount my Garmin on there and swap over to a TrailTech Vapor dash.

I have to say, if I had to buy another road-only bike it would be another SMT, its a great bike for everything on the road. I've only had the 690 a week so its very early days but its so light just riding around and through traffic. It is a little buzzy through the bars but I will fix that and the bike if very tall with the Renazco seat (fortunately I'm 6'3" so can still flat foot it just). I have yet to ride any dirt (bloody weather is rubbish) but hope to get out over the holidays.
The power drop was a worry but, having ridden a few miles now, I am liking the punch of the single and its continual need to loft the front wheel!

Like all good KTMs - I always get off grinning like a fool :D:D:D

    Nice!

Is that a larger-than OEM front disc? Did you have a bracket fabricated? Looks interesting.

As an aside, I was looking at the factory Dakar bikes and the front brakes for those bikes are not significantly different than what we have. No radial mounts, no carbon disc, etc.

Great so far! I ride pavement and dirt, and it seems to be a good fit for both.

Hello guys this is my first post ever and it is on a thread about my favorite bike in the world. And I have a question about the 690r how is it if you change the seat get a bigger fuel tank on it is it good for long rides like 300miles type stuff or is it just to vibey and shaky?. And ware are there ktm dealers in the Montana Idaho WA area, oh and after you break it in what mpg does it get at different speeds
