Only if you admit BMWs are nothing more than Euro Harleys.

    Of course they are

...without the vibration, the noise, the lack of handling, the parts trail left behind, and the goobers gripping the bars.

This stuff was all AFTER AMF! It was the EVO.

AMF was going to sell HD in the early 80's, and the HD employees bought it to save it.

That being said, I still like the early 70's AMF Sporty's best! :D

    Wrong.

AMF owned H-D from 1969-1981. The buyout was begun in 1981 and the first model year of non-AMF was 1982. The purchase was not the "employees" but a group of Harley-Davidson executives led by Vaughn Beals.

Alternator-introduced 1970 on the big twins.
    Electronic Ignition-introduced 1978
5 Speed transmission-introduced in 1980 along with the rubber mounted drivetrain on the FLT.
The Evo was introduced in 1984. If you recall (you don't) the advertising stated "5 years in the making" which places development beginning in the AMF era making them responsible for it.
