I just purchased a 2007 1200RT and need to mount my Zumo 550 GPS unit and not sure what is the easier route. I would prefer not to drill holes. Please offer mounts and where I can purchase them.
Consider using a RAM mount on your LEFT clutch reservoir. You can make adjustments to the GPS with your left hand...while maintaining throttle control with your right. You obviously, for safety reasons, shouldn't be making a lot of adjustments to the GPS at road speeds. Just sayin'. Easy to view...better than mounting far away (making the GPS effectively SMALLER and harder to view) on the centered SHELF or down in back of the tank bag like the picture above where it'll be difficult to see. No drilling necessary. Otherwise order those, as well. <a href="http://s635.photobucket.com/user/RMWBMW/media/DSC01643.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/R/RMWBMW_DSC01643.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSC01643.jpg"/></a> Mounting from back of GPS... <a href="http://s635.photobucket.com/user/RMWBMW/media/DSC01642.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/R/RMWBMW_DSC01642.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSC01642.jpg"/></a>
Consider a Bags Connection tank bag. Zumo mounts on the bag. There are lots of different models, but here's mine on an 1150GS-- Bag connects to the bike using a locking ring on the fuel cap. No straps. No magnets. Doesn't touch (rub) the paint. Removes in 5 seconds. Re-installs in more like 15 seconds because you got to get it lined up before it snaps into place.
