This is my other passion, build plastic motorbikes model kits,I got some road and racing bikes but my favourites are the dirt bikes, hard to find in 1/12.

I am wondering if anyone else has dakar models here are my babes

Sorry about the pics, cheap mobile phone camera

I found a thread in one of the other forums (might have been Equipement or Racing) where someone was showing their own model and had done a link to an awesome build up of one of those BMW PD models (in the metal parts kit), with full weathering (dirt/mud/accident damage scratching) - well worth having a search for. You'll love it.

Hey, I've got both those kits, both mint still in the box and one of the BMW's made up.

Nice to another model nerd here. :D

    +1

Although it's been a long while since I was regularly doing them.
Last one was a 750/4, it's still unfinished. The real ones have been taking up too much time, I suppose.

I always wanted to get an xr650r kit but can not find any for the life of me. Are bike model kits hard to find? or they just dont make them like cars?

That is a fantastic photograph, too. Photos spec?

Models are hard enough to build (with fat fingers) let alone weather to this extent.

I find modelling is a good way to help me stop snacking, too.:rofl

That is a fantastic job, something I would never have the patience or commitment to do. One thing I would do is buy diecast models of Dakar bikes, is there anywhere overseas where they can be obtained?

    Hi
I have a Protar kit 1:9 scale of the Rallye Airhead. It is availble for purchase.
I know that I wouldn't be able to do it justice and do have some other models that interest me more - if I ever get to them will be a different matter!

    PM me if interested

This thread reminded me of something I haven`t seen for over 20 years so I just dug it out of the cupboard . I remember the many hours I spent building and painting it . My sister accidently knocked it of a shelf and damaged it ( I was quietly spewin at the time ) So I stuck it back in the box and thought I`ll fix it one day . Forgot all about it until now . Maybe I will fix it one day . Tamiya Model (Medium).JPG
