Owning the Ural made me appreciate a 3 wheeled vehicle in the snow/ice.

Check this out. The sidecar has an attachment so it comes off in five minutes!

One can enjoy their two wheel Scooter most of the year and then pop on a sidecar to get through the snow, ice and winter weather.

Fits up to a 250cc scoot per the website. http://www.kelticsidecars.com

I'm not sure I'd want to carry a passenger in this thing but would like the frame part to use as an outrigger in winter! Maybe put a utlity box on it instead of a seat.

Looks like he copied the California Side Car outfit. I bought one in the early 80s new for $399.00. Worked well and I put thousands of miles on it.

Can you tell us more about your rig?
How did it handle? What were turns like? Top speed? Braking?

My dog hates the Ural but I think it's due to the engine noise.

I would love to be able to bring my dog scooting!

Handled like a typical hack and worked well on the P200E. Sidecars are a totally bizarre idea, they handle weird and take some time to get used to. Acceleration causes it to pull right, braking causes it to pull left. Top speed on flat ground with no wind was just over 50 mph. Great in the snow and ice.

Mine had a torsion suspension and came with an 8" trailer wheel. I changed the wheel over to a standard 10" Vespa wheel and fender. The seat was quick to remove for use as a camp chair.

I spoke to john at keltic about a year ago to build a hack for my wheelchair.
He makes it clear that those cars are not for humans. Most bought them for pups.

There are also a few issues with that website that have been going on for a long time. Not sure what the state of Keltic is. Maybe someone has more insight on them.

    Thanks for that info.
Your rig was much more substantial then these Keltic ones.
50 is pretty good. When my Ural gets to 60 I start praying.

    Really? Not for humans. Hmmm.
Not really surprised I guess. The attachment is only one point on the scoot.

How did you go about fitting the 10" Vespa wheel ??

I ask because I've got a P200 fitted with a Squire sidecar that has an 8" wheel.
Although I've fitted an 8" spare under the sidecar, having all three as 10" would be better.

I made an adapter plate to attach the 10" Vespa rim to the 4 lug hub for the trailer wheel.

Thanks for the reply....I had considered the super simple adapter plate technique but wasn't sure if there was some kind of trailer hub alternative that had been used.
Right then...where did I put that piece of alloy plate............

Cheyenne is too old. But there are more dogs at the pound when the time comes. I hope Keltic will be there.[IMG]
She's not really into two wheels and I doubt three will be much better.

Sidecars are fun for local putting around town, but they absolutely DO take some getting used to. It's best to do some parking lot riding before hitting the open roads when you first get a hack.

I think a sidecar would be a lot of fun.. Might get me out in the winter a bit more.. If I get enough cold weather gear anyways. I wonder what the Sh150i would look like with one of these... :D

I just picked up this '09 this week and it's a hoot. I don't see me doing any real long trips on it but a 40-50 mile ride is what its set up for most often. This pic was taken yesterday. It was the first time I had a passenger in it. It's my 14 year old son that is 6' tall and he had plenty of leg room. I have two great danes. I would love to get one of them to ride along with me some. I'm not too sure how that would work.

That is a lovely rig leeinmemphis!
Funny how many of us worry about horsepower & top speed for our 2-wheelers, and yet a Stella hack can haul 2 grown men, and be fun doing it. Well done :clap

Sidecars look cool. They don't handle cool IMO. In 1999 I bought a low mileage 95 Harley Ultra with a California Sidecar Friendship 3 (III). It took one week to convince me I didn't want a hack. Having all that storage space was great but having what looks like a Geo Metro bolted on one side was anything but fun IMO. What was even less fun was having little old ladies in 4 banger cars out accelerating me.:huh
