Curious what people are using to cover rim lock holes?

I am not running a rim locks and I changed my tire with out plugging the hole.
Can I still cover the hole properly without taking my tire off?

I use an aluminum tape made by 3M. I usually put a piece on the inside and 1 on the outside. It's pretty heavy duty, actually made for temporary patch jobs on aircraft skin. I've seen similar products at hardware stores. If I already had the tire mounted I would just put a piece on the outside to keep out sand and water.

You have to use rim lock plug adhesive. otherwise the centrifugal force will drive the plug into the tube at high speeds resulting in a blow out. Electrical tape is not strong enough and aluminum tape as stated is only for temporary use:deal

Just patched mine this weekend with a chunk of old inner tube held in place by a couple of strips of electrical tape. I would think that just a rim tape would be ok.

I am thinking if I need to take the tire off to do this right I might as well put the rim lock back on.

    Thanks for the input.

unfortunately doing a google search for rim lock plug adhesive, just brings me to this thread :clap so I am not sure what product you are referring to.

My works schedule right now is not great for getting to any type of shop when they are open, so ordering online is big help for getting things done during odd hours.
maybe I can run to a few on saturday and see what they have. but if you could link me to what I should be looking for that would me much appreciated.

I would not sweet it. The stock rim lock hole plug for the DR is just a little rubber plug with no adhesive. The Right vs Wrong on this one is so slight it not even worth sweating over.

ya... fill the hole with RTV & put a piece of foil tape over the top. plug it from the inside next tire change. maybe let the air out of the tire to get a good fill
