One other way of checking tank leak is to put a little air pressure in it and to spay some bubly soap on the welds.

Major changes in the project. Engine and frame will be changed for KTM SM990, go them for mickey money - could not resist. Engine is with 4000km only.
Sold the VFR engine. Laser measured the homemade frame and found the steering neck misaligned - can be fixed. So it will stay on the shelf till I get some inspiration
to proceed and get a new VFR engine. Or if anyone is interested, can send it and charge for postage only. All other parts for KTM are bolt-on
so I dont need much, except tank and front plastics.

Gotta say I'm sad as well. The VFR would have been really interesting but you are certainly ahead of the game with a KTM.

I understand just wanting a bike to get back riding, but keep the frame and motor and keep building.

Your bike is one of the few that made me decide to cut my RT up and build the adv bike I want to ride. I am a few wires and my seat return from taking my first test ride, and you ditch me....

I really hope you decide to straighten that frame and buy another cam drive VFR motor for it and finish that project.

Have you taken any pictures of your build? This thread delivers, but perhaps you have something alike?

I thought the frame was awesome and bike had a ton of character. However I completely understand and support why you went to the KTM build. Mixing and matching components from various bikes, it is so difficult to achieve that factory look. Sometimes it's better to stop, reassess the true goal, and continue.

I think your new bike looks great and I bet it's a blast to ride.

Here is my build thread...mot as nice as Quacs, but it is improving everyday. I will be adding some new pics soon. It is almost on the road for some preliminary ridimg test so I can double check some changes out and see what has to go and what stays....I hope to test it TODAY.

I am not picking on Quacamole...I get it, just want to finish a project and get riding, but I really hope he continues on the VFR...just cool and different. My build has been done before by others, so it is just my version of it...not nearly as interesting as Quacs.

Greetings and thanks to all supporters there. Summer here is short and I just wanted to get out there and ride, that´s the reason for switching to KTM.
But yes, planing to finish the VFR also one day. Also xs650 engine should arrive next week or so, for my scrambler/sled build. Will continue building when it gets cold here.

My guess is that you won't fare that much better getting that big VFR lump into a way-too-small space than the previous build, but we all vicariously enjoy watching you try, so go for it!
