I live on the west side of the majsetic granite covered sierra Nevada's just south of Yosemite. Before there were roads there were trails ... trails the indians took between the great deserts of Nevada with mountains covered in obsidian and the great valley and farther the pacific ocean traiding baskets and arrows... Cevquit an inmate and myself have been riding lc4s for 5 years together and and have decided its time to once again load up ... take a trip over the Tioga pass following the indian footsteps layed thousands of years ago.. A last trip before the snows of 2012. We will be staying Mono resort in Twin Lakes near Bridgeport California. We Plan to leave Friday Oct 14th and return Sunday the 16th. I hope to take you all along with us on a trip that includes, old volcanos, a high desert salt lake, a ghost town perhaps two, mines, Nevada, and some trout fishing.... included in the fun will be high speed desert runs, Jack Rabbits and views of the eastern Sierras that will take your breath.

We will be staying under a roof so we will not doing any camping this go round.. l just finished my rally bike

so this is a good time to really shake it down for over 500-700 miles..

I got a chance to pack after work today..

Like I said fishing is involved so in the day pack I will carry my Rod/Reel combo and tackle...of course my tools as the bike was just rebuilt and I ALWAYS carry them.. I will also carry a med kit, tire irons and a front and back tube.. AND two liters of H20 in a camelback... its a heavy pack and I have done this type of thing quite a few times..but it sure makes riding without a pack all that much funner (is that a word?)

Cevquit (Cevin or Ron) will be here at 630 am riding a 50mi slab trip from Fresno.. then we will leave Oakhurst at 7 am taking a dirt entrance to the park at sunrise .. Then we will swing thru the Yosemite Valley pass the Meadows and Granite faces....then up thru the high pass of Tioga.. coming down in to Mono Lake and Lee Vining where we will trace around the area of the old Benton Bodie rail road riding around the east side of the lake Then into Bodie an amazing ghost town..... well thats the plan for half of tommorow anyway... we will see what the weekend has in store for us...
He has one of those new fangled smart phones so we may be able to up load some photos along the way!!

Cevin came by about 630 am and I was pretty good to go.. so we started off out of Oakhurst when I thought I had left my Camelpack home pulled over and turned the key off.. while I did it popped out of my gloved hand and didnt hit the ground.. realized the hydro pak was there but hadnt secured the hose.. so now to the key.. which couldnt be found and had wedged itself between a rad hose and the rad.. ok.. found it.. ziptied up a leash for it and off we went through Miami trail area.. heading toward a back way into Yosemite..(it always feels good to get in free! lol) We ripped thru the dirt... continued on post 17..

In the morning Cevin said he passed two Bmw riders which I happened to see parked at the breakfast spot here in town.. well after our dirt entrance look who comes up behind us when we hit the pavement..

they followed us until we traveled through the tunnel.... (bad photo)

aand missed the turn right after said tunnel which you need to make to take in THE MOST amazing view on the west cost

They passed us and went down 1/2 mi to a lower parking lot near to view El Cap... while we grabbed a guy to shoot one or two for us...

Those guys really missed out but seemed to be pained by following two guys on 640s with knobbies.. one passed on a double (lucky cause the flat hats love to write tickets) before the tunnel and missed this parking lot.. it was now about 830 am and we had to now travel through the valley, up... up higher
... lots of pine, cedar and Granite on our path following the footsteps of thosuands of Mono and Miwok indians..
