I'll be riding around your area this Sunday, I'll keep my eye out for Loveshack in case I get an opportunity to meet you face to face - which would make my year!:D (hmmm, that sounds kind of creepy, oh well, only good intentions)

Thanks for taking me along on the ride and for your insights and inner workings.

I love that Sunset Crater/Wupatki road. It has some special memories for me that you stirred up. About 8 years ago, in the fall, I was headed south from home (Page AZ) with the intent of doing the Jerome, Mingus Mountain thing on a long weekend. The way things worked out I ended up staying in Flagstaff and spending the afternoon and evening with my middle son. We played some pool, went out and ate, and in general had just a real good visit, just the two of us. The first time in years. I was a little disappointed earlier that afternoon that I hadn't just gone on south, but really glad I hadn't after the time we had. On the way home I took the Sunset Crater turn off on a whim. I hit the big fields of yellow flowers set against the pine trees and the volcanic stuff and the Allman Brothers "Jessica" came through the ear buds. It was one of those "Oh Thank You!" moments, just topping off a great weekend. Two years later my son's demons got the best of him and he was gone. Your pictures of the Crater and ruins made me once again grateful for how things turned out that weekend.

    Thanks
    Ed

I have ridden past the Vermillion Cliffs a couple times .... in both directions. It's a wonderful route from Phoenix to St. George, UT, where my son lives.

Keep it coming, Dave. You're doing great!

Always look forward to iDave reports. Not sure if its the photos or the narrative that rivals Garrison Keillor. Keep em coming!

As usual, your RR provides an opportunity to reflect on one's life....and see a bit inside yours. The story told by the pictures is also up to your usual high standards. Thanks for continuing to ride and write without fear of regrets.
