No, I'm only riding in the 18F we're having in Portland. 6.4 would probably be enough to make me say fuck that.
I only have a 1/2 mile commute, so it's not that bad. Working second shift makes it more exciting though, clutch cable froze last night, that was fun.

    Hi guys. I'm new here.

I have an 09 KLR 650 that I commute on every day. For at least a few months, it's been my only vehicle.

I live in Portland and commute 30 miles roundtrip on I-5. 50 to 75 mph.

It was 17 degrees on Monday and it got to my fingertips, but that's it.

Hippo Hands are on their way. :clap

Nice to meet all of you!

I rode last week Tuesday through Friday, but chickened out for Saturday because they said there was ice on the bridges and lots of accidents. Drove today, but I think I'll be riding in the morning.

Been seeing hardleys around Medford everyday

Even when the roads were completely white from the freezing fog

Stoopid looking fuggers with ape hangers and little beanie helmets

I'd be riding but need to take my truck for hauling stuff from Home Depot and Lowes

Everyday this week. 20-32* in Vancouver. Try to get home shortly after dark to keep the digits from falling off. Luckily it's a Dry cold.

That's right - so no ice on the road. Hence it's riding time. However, them damn frozen fingers and the foggy faceshield are no fun.

I went out a couple of nights ago in some very heavy fog at about 20 F... I wasn't too cold, even with my old school unheated gear (welding gloves work surprisingly well in the cold, though perhaps they don't offer the best "feel":rofl), but I really didn't appreciate the layer of ice that quickly formed on my faceshield, and subsequently my glasses. Combined with the fog, I felt f'ing blind, and it was not a trip I'd like to take again. Also, had a thin layer of ice on the front of me when I arrived at the grocery store just a couple of miles away.

But the cold itself was no problem. It was the first time I'd ever ridden in a cold fog like that, and I don't think I'll do it again if I can avoid it. Any tips on keeping ice from forming on faceshields/glasses?

Sure am. Rode to work yesterday. 1.3 at my house, .03 at work. Getting there is not the issue cuz the bike is warm from being in the shop all night, starting it after work takes a little more effort:deal

I am still seeing too much black ice on my suburban/rural roads to ride safely. So the bikes are parked right now. A friend of mine crashed his road bicycle two days ago due to black ice and fractured his right wrist. Ouch!

A friend in Spokane called yesterday morning and wanted me to come up and have lunch with him. It was about 6 deg when I hopped on the GSA and left Kennewick and around 11 in Spokane when I got there a couple of hours later. It was a balmy 23 when I got back to Kennewick though. My daughter wanted a ride to school this morning so I fired up the R75/5 and took her on that. Had the Gerbings on for the ride yesterday and was comfy. The short ride this morning on the airhead was much, much cooler. The old bike doesn't have the juice to run heated gear, and doesn't offer near the wind protection of the GSA. Daughter was grinning from ear when I dropped her off though, so it was worth it.
