I was wondering if anyone here is involved in racing vintage bikes, particularly BMWs. I made the pilgrimage to Barber Vintage days over the weekend and am hooked. Just would like to ask some questions.

I raced my R75 in the early 2000's. Send a PM to an inmate named pommie John. He's a current go-fast guy on Airheads.

I race an R75/5 and am building an R65 for VSBLW - I was at Barber racing, however my beemer didnt compete, had my first mechanical in 6 years. It's super fun and a great group. Email me at johnny@motoworkschicago.com if you have questions about classes or how to get in.

If you're getting into it the R65 for vsblw is the way to fly, there are 7 of us and over 20 bikes on the grid. A stock R65 is competitive.

I run BMW 900 in the local pre 1976 class here in NZ.
The original $250 900 engine has been retired and its now running a 1000cc .
Originally build as it was cheap, turns out pretty reliable too.
Totally outclassed by Tridents, Commandos, Ducatis and Guzzis but having a lot of fun.
