That has to be a world record ? Worked on this deal for nearly 2 months , finally today I got it . 2006 w/ 1540 miles in almost perfect condition . Small scratch on one foot rest and a tiny scratch on the plastic muffler trim , both are a cheap fix . I drove almost 400 miles round trip on 4 hours sleep so I didn't even unload it , tomorrow is another day . These are getting nearly impossible to find now in this condition and miles . $ ESPECIALLY AT A FAIR PRICE $ TheReaper!
Holy Shit man, you really are obsessed with them Big Ruckuses! Thats surly a world record on Big Rucks, I's sure of it! Don't nobody else probably never had quite that many! But I'm glad you got a bike that really suits you like that. I also understant how these here is becomin rare so yea jump on em if they's good and I know y'all don't have all of em that you sold a few and such for profits but yea I think you got a record! I think there neat I wouldn't mind one at all. Too expansive for 250 cc for me though but I gotta like the looks. Its a real mans scoot!
You are just buying 'em, fixing or changing them and selling them. This is a biz for you, right? Maybe your posts belong in the vendors section. Sorta boring that most of your posts are about the great deals you got on your latest BR. Got anything else to contribute to this forum other than self congratulation?
YUP ! Sold 7 so far and yes for a nice profit . I've been buying every low mileage one I can find within a reasonable distance for years . At first it was pretty easy to get one at a fairly decent price , but those days are long gone . Every one else finally caught on to the rarity of the Big Ruckus . I even had a guy from I think it was New Zealand or some Scandinavian country who wanted a pristine pair of 2005's that I had . He actually wired me the money but I returned it to him because my bank's legal department told me , that I wire transfer can go bad up to two months later if fraud any where along the line took place . Then the guy wanted to have the shipper bring cash to my house , but I had already sold them to a gun dealer in northern Michigan . The gun dealer paid me $500 more by the way , and he had cash in hand so not much could go wrong . Every one I buy is brought back to show room condition , so when they leave here there isn't a mark or even the slightest scratch on them . My customer is 40 and over and has money , wants a like new BR and is willing to pay up to get it . TheReaper!
Well FYI most people know me here and know that I also have a large scooter collection . I am terribly sorry if my collecting , buying and selling has offended your sensibilities . Perhaps I should run out and throw myself off a cliff and do it on one of my Big Rucks ? Or will some thing like a mild flogging do ? TheReaper!
A buddy of mine has a yellow big ruck with 3400 miles I offered him $3000 cash he laughed his ass off "You'll have to deal with my daughters after I am dead cuz I'm not selling it" he rides it about 10 times a year
Hell, I'll congratulate him myself. The allure of the Big Ruckus, especially when modded with a JCosta and an upjet to highway performance - cannot be overstated. That is the only scoot I've ever really regretted selling; it warms the little cockles of my aging and dysfunctional heart to see a fella similarly affected with BR Syndrome. The Reap is a well-known and respected presence at totalruckus for his acumen and insight into all things PTW. That latest buy of his is a significant coup - iff'n I had an extry five gees hanging around, I'd make him an offer today. It's a very good bike - I once ditched a Vespa GTS 250ie 'cause I didn't like it nearly as much, and the Reaper is a solid chap: it ain't a biz, it's a passion, and an itch I myself would scratch if I could.
Still might be nice if if his posts on this forum consisted of more than how much money he makes buying and selling. Showing some of the acumen and insight in this forum, maybe helping others, might be nice. Just saying.
First off if you are not a BR person you just don't get it . Any one who has one , or had one , or hunted for one gets it . They are unique and there are less than 2500 of them in the world , which makes finding one an experiance in itself . Finding one now is cause for celebration and even a little envy some times . I know when some one else makes a good find I always give them a high five . Then I think , how did I miss that one . Also collectors are always buying and selling , it's just part of the game . Part of the thrill is the hunt , then the find . FYI this one is NFS , NOT FOR SALE , this one will be gone over and put in the collection . I seriously doubt that I will be selling any more of these now . Plain and simple the low mileage units are just to hard to hard to find now . TheReaper!
Yea that theres a good way to make a little extra cash on the side. I bet if you's a keepin a few even more than you need, in a few years or maybe more they's gonna really be worth somethin. Wow with only 2,500 of them made they is gonna be hard to find. I seed one at my dealer in Hollister but it is $3,900 out of my price range by lots. Not for me but I do think they's cool. Most bikers probably won't give you so much shit for riding one neither like they is gonna one a plastic scoot of with all them body parts like a Vespa. siyeh why the hell does your friend only ride it 10 times a year?:huh Is he have a medical reason, to many bikes, or do we now have scooter posers?
You are right on both counts , the BR is already selling at as much as a $1,500 premium over it's plastic brother the Reflex . Here is a good example of a rare limited run bike , the 1992 SW-1 . Today even a not so nice one is in the $10,000 range . That's just one more reason I'm not selling any more of them . By the way , if you see a SW-1 for sale let me know .
Hey man, congrats on the score! I would love to own a BR, but that's just not gonna happen in my lifetime... No, for me, the most reasonable machine is a Helix. I've always wanted one, and I finally got one for a semi-reasonable price EXACTLY one year ago (bought it in early March, 2011!) If I had the room, I'd snap up every clean, low-mileage Helix I could find... but sadly, space is a major issue for me.
Nice deal on the BR. Ya know, some people just like to bitch about anything. Too bad a lot of them sit in front of a keyboard...
Congrats on the addition. I would love to get a chance to ride one someday. Honestly, I am not even sure if I have ever seen one in person before.
i feel the same way on both parts, hi 5 amigo!!! and back in the say when this bikes were out there i could not get it, now, I still don't but will like to ride one anywya!!! DAmasovi
All the cosmetic stuff has been taken care of and this is what it looks like now , pretty much show room condition . This BR had 1540 miles on it and yet there were 9 areas that were scratched up . I really find it amazing how poorly some people treat their bikes . TheReaper!
