Sat on a "72" today at the local big box Harley shop.

Man! I think I want another Sportster!

That red metallic with black/gold striping is really, really nice!

Caught several glances at the 72 they had at my local dealer,
only had it in black denim. Pretty slick,
though I really wanted to see that red metallic in person.

Looked incredibly tiny compared to my R,
and wayyyyy too much chrome for my taste.

Thanks for getting us back on topic gents.

All the new sportsters feel , even the Xr felt smaller than my r. The seat to peg clearance on a nightster with mids feels like I am coming from a 29er mountain bike to a bmx

I have an HD Iron. I'm only 5'7" and the mid controls felt like my knees were in my chest. I put on forward controls and it feels right now.

How do you like that windshield? I'd like to put something on my 99, but I don't know what size I want. I always seem to buy a bigger windshield than what I actually need, then regret it later.

I'd like to have bug protection, as I wear an open face helmet normally. It seems like the little ones like that would put your head in the turbulence and you'd still get slammed with bugs, but I've never had one so I don't know. Below 55 I love my sportster, but going on the highway for any length of time is miserable. Neck gets sore from holding my helmet against the wind, catch a fat bug to the face, then say heck with it and take another route. I've shortened a lot of rides because of that fact and regretted it later.

Got the new wheels and tires on and took it for a spin last night. Once I get a proper seat for the bike I'll leave it alone for this year.

thanks Victor, I've always wanted to dirtster a Sport. Having a ball with it. You can't believe how this thing handles fire roads! I'm thinking I may drop a tooth on the Transmission sprocket, I don't need to run 100mph on this one:deal

    THAT is sweet!!! :clap

Looks sharp. How do you like that seat? I got one in brown but have not installed it yet (need to buy a set of Torx drivers to get that seat post off).

18x4.5 rear and 19x2.5 front. Tires are Kenda 761's. Got both wheels off Ebay for cheap compared to the big book catalogs. Kinda buzzy at speed on the highway, (surprise surprise...) but they work well in the dirt. Especially compared to the Avon Venoms I ran before. :lol3

I've been looking at getting an 883 or 1200R and also trying to find a full fairing for one, not one of those bikini fairings but something like on the Ducati GT1000 Paul Smart edition anyone know where to get one in the states?

:clap To both of you. Could you both give us a pic from the side? I like to see the profile for inspiration. Great looking Sporties. I'm seriously thinking my next addition to the garage may be a Nightster.
