From one of the organisers of the KRR, Rob L., and posted on http://www.bmwtcnsw.org/ :

(Read in conjunction with the KRR Map)

If you are thinking of doing the Karuah River Rally this year (10 - 12 February) and coming in via Monkerai Road, Main Creek Road and Skimmings Gap Road (some call this the "low road"), you should note the following.

Forests NSW advise they currently have Frying Pan Road closed off at the junction of Frying Pan Road and Skimmings Gap Road (for road repairs further on) but they hope to have these done before the rally if the rain holds off.

If it's still closed (FNSW say there will be signs & barricades), stay on Skimmings Gap Road (ie by veering left) until it joins Wangat Trig Road, turn right onto this, then a few k's after the Telegherry River Causeway, turn right onto Frying Pan Road and you'll see the rally site on the left a few k's later (I don't have precise measurements).

Otherwise, just come in via the high road from Dungog (ie Wangat Trig Road as above).

Note also, the roads have a fair bit of exposed stone and will be a bit jarring.

Note also again, if the closed area is opened, there are a number of relatively deep ruts on downhill sections (or uphill on the way out) -so please be careful - especially if it's wet!

    Key Messages

    (1) comply with Forests NSW barricade and warning signs if Frying Pan Road is blocked at its junction with Skimmings Gap Road

    (2) if Frying Pan Road is barricaded, go up Skimmings Gap Road, turn right onto Wangat Trig Road, across the causeway, right onto Frying Pan Road and follow this to the rally site

    (3) OR - take the high road into the rally site in the first place

I'll continue to post updates on the BMW TC website as I get 'em - check in before you go

The rain had better stop, soon...!

This is what it was like when the rally began back in 78. No guarantee that you could get in and no guarantee that you could get out on Sunday morning.

Frank Cachia (who has attended every KRR) and I use to leave Melbourne late Thursday evening or early Friday and we knew we were going to be riding in rain.
Adventure bikes? Crap! We had road bikes with road tyres, panniers, grog, food all on board.

So much for the F**K W**S who espouse GW

    Just reporting the facts Mam.

    Cheers

A few showers is better than Rain.....If it was going to be like it is now, it would be perfect.

Looks like I'll be wandering up to Nundle for Fri night with a few others expected. The weather will regulate what happens after that but I doubt the Barry Rd will be an option with more rain due mid-week.

I have just booked into the Hills of Gold motel opp the Peel hotel(02 67693222, $100 per night) and they still have a few rooms available.
The pub also has accomodation. The weather today was perfect, and if no more rain falls this week, we will be able to get to Dargo via Ellerston:clap

Meeting RTO and Photofast who are coming down from Brisvagas.

Catch you for a frothy one or two on Friday night.:freaky
