since i cant think of another place to post this on this site..and the kawa sites have been.....useless.....i figured you guys might know or be able to help

1993 kawasaki bayou 400 4x4....it was out being used for logging when it sprung an oil leak and was rode back to the shop..i was informed of it only to find a HUGE puddle under it...it had puked its crankcase contents

there is a ?plug?seal? or something missing...opposite end of the front drive shaft..facing the rear shaft...heres the real problem tho...i cant find anything in the parts lookups that show the transfercase area...

so heres a couple pic's for referance...and the hole is roughly about 2inch? maybe a lil smaller....from my auto background id almost think a freezplug goes in there as the walls of teh hole are smooth

hopefully someone can get me a part number????

They call that the front bevel gear, unfortunately I dont see a plug for that area listed. Maybe you can see what you are looking for. I wish you luck, might just have to go to the dealer and see what it is.

I think the part you are talking about is 13091. It's hard to tell much from pictures.

Is the end of that shaft supported as expected? That is, can you see a bearing still in place?

300 and 400 gear boxes are different, according to the fiche. When I was checking for the part number, I had accidently pulled up the 300.When I went back to the op's pics something was amiss, thats when I realized I was no longer in the 400 fiche.

    I concur.

I think what looked to me like a bolt hole was just a bit of crud, the image is kinda blurry.

Yeah, when you wrote "logging" I translated that to "tortured". CV joints on the front axle are money... at least keep those booted, lol
