If you want to participate, email ToasterTan to get vetted. The event is at someone's house who is pretty private and won't advertise his address. ToasterTan is the gate keeper. I'll be there on my RTW R80G/S
I was pinged there may be some interest on the ADV to join the gathering October 4th. It's an Airhead BMW event. Everyone's welcome, we just didn't want it to be posted on the one eyed, left handed CBR Weekend Riders forum. The turnout is growing and we have a couple projects lined up, but always room for more. So far we have an EnduraLast system installation on an R100GS and steering head bearings replaced on an RT. There will be plenty of tune-up and valve setting going on as well. Bring your bike, parts and project as you'll have lots of experienced wrenches to assist. My friend Dave has agreed to host as he lives in the country near Machias Wa with lots of space and great shop. There's even a small caliber range behind the shop. A BBQ feast of brats provided with banquet table offerings. You don't HAVE to ride your Airhead there. If you would like to attend - or think you might and want directions - ping me for the details. There's an Airhead Beemer Club (ABC) Tech Day on the 11th in Hansville WA. Details are in the last two issues of "AirMail", the club magazine. At least the Washington, and perhaps the Oregon, Air Marshal will be there.
I wish I'd known. Problem will be which of 5 airheads to bring next time this stealth tech day is not offered.
TT, Sent you an email about attending... might be able to pull it off depending on the time of the teching!
Thank you Stephen for organizing this event. Also big thanks to our host David. It was nice to put faces to names, and to reconfirm what a great airhead community we have.
Damn it. Somehow I got it in my head that the 4th fell on Sunday. (today) I baked a bunch of corn bread last night and rode up there this morning to find a locked gate and nobody home. Sorry I was a no-show yesterday. I'll brush up on proper calendar usage procedures and hopefully I'll get it right next time. :huh
MaƱana, eh? Me to. Brought cornbread to the church fish fry today, which was actually yesterday. Doh. --Bill
Some pics from the tech day. There was an R27 or some such as well, but it was being worked on. Great tech day ... Stephen brought his braces store: Eric his key store: There were some nice bikes there... Some actual work got done: But I managed to screw up a rear tire install (backwards) and got to redo it after I had cooled off... This one gave me some ideas .... Nice .... Thanks Dave & Sue for hosting a great tech day
Looks great. But I don't understand removing the rear pegs. My feet are normally on them or the heel with my toes on the front one.
Sounds like y'all had a great Tech Day. Stephen brought his braces store: The T'Tan upper triple has to be the best add-on I've done-- I knew it would tighten up the front end, but I was amazed at how much of an improvement the was in the handling and "feel" of the bike. Ironic-- I wore braces as a kid, and now my old bike wears one permanently... :eek1 --Bill
I hate to admit it, but that is exactly what happened to me to, got to the gate and checked my phone to find the event was on Saturday! Funny thing was I rode through a ton of fog once I got off of 2, and whatever was in the fog metlted the anti-fog coating off of the safety glasses I was wearing :eek1
