Hi all not been on the site for a bit . After building one or two cafe racers and brat style bikes it's time to start my bmw olds cool norton style cafe racer .1st was to put new tubes in the frame and a new sub frame , now it takes the feather bed norton alloy tanks , going to use some old xs 650 forks and old ap race callipers up the front , a old micron fork brace , ,this is as far as have got on the build but it's getting there , You can see more photos on the face book page https://www.facebook.com/downandoutcaferacers

This is going to be the most unique airhead café yet! Love the big beefy frame and fork.

Wow, that tank is about as nice as anything I've seen. The seat cowl is looking like it's going to be good too. Looking forward to more updates.

I like the feather bed mod, these frames could use it!

So long as he puts in the head steady the BMW left out of their copy. The head steady triangulates the frame - from cyl head down to the lower engine plates and rear of frame. That's why BMW builders put in frame braces, to put in the triangulation that was left out. A rectangle needs that if you are going to put stress into the corners.
