    Wow, that was fun.
The rain made most of the dirt very loamy (not muddy) and almost NO DUST!!

Ran up some great roads with some great riding partners!

The Olympic Peninsula backroads were hit hard by the winter storms.

Came across one landslide and two through roads being repaired (big holes dug in the ground). :lol3

I need to rethink my wet riding gear, I got soaked.

    At least it was warm.

    Hey Joe,

Nice to meet ya! You're right. Good company and more good tracks offered up by Dave. He should charge admission.

I didn't know you got wet. My red jacket is a five-yr old Aerostich Darien. I didn't have a single drop of water come through.

    Just sayin"

Olyrider and Guns=Freedom joined the regular bunch for a Saturday ride to check out the 2502rd. A Saturday ride allows Brian/Atomic Fuze to join us and after breakfast we took the espress route over Rocky Brook to Brinnon. Guns(Joe) had a mechanical problem, he dealt with it handily, but we missed out connection at the Duckabush turnoff and had to collect up Olyrider along the way. We blasted down the 2510 road to the Hamma Hamma with Paul falling in like a trouper. Here's GunsEqualsFreedom(Joe) nearing the south end of 2510. Man can he make even a KLR look good!

We traveled up the Hamma Hamma road to 2502, the road we saw from Trap Pass last weekend. The road starts out great and except for my bike wanting to ride in the ditch and then jump back out on the road, or Packled trying to move a truly large camoflouged rock, we made it here without incident.

You'll have to check out Steven's photo of the big rockslide that stopped us cold but it was followed by washouts. After a walk up the road to where we could see up to Trap Pass (we almost stepped in the bear poo) all reluctantly returned to their bikes to explore one of the side roads off 2502.

Here's a pic of the slide that stopped us on the 2502rd.

From here we backtracked to the 020 spur, a promising looking road that heads up high, and came upon this:
Lacking a powered saw we retreated back to the Hamma Hamma and went for a look at the 2401rd near Jefferson Lakes. Here's a look toward Washington Pass, over the top of Elk Lake, from the end of 2401.

The group rode up to the end of the 112rd, off of 2401, for another look toward Washington Pass before it rained. Here's Steven and Olyrider discussing the finer points of GS's while their trusty small bikes listen jealously.

Washinton Pass just before the serious rainstorm hit.

After riding down the hill, the group headed over the pass to a certain soaking and I slabbed it back to Quilcene for a late lunch then home to see if the dog would let me through the gate. Great ride with a capital bunch of fellows. Dave

Anyone up for a ride in the Cascades on Saturday 8/23?

I'm thinking having breakfast a Charlie's in Enumclaw then heading out for a full day of riding in the Cascades.

    Proposed Route:
    Enumclaw - Hwy 410 to FS 70
    FS 70 to 7030 - 7036 - 7038 - 1913 - 19.
FS 19 to a run up to Raven's Roost.
FS 19 and 410 to Cliffdell for lunch at Whistln' Jacks.
    Then back up 410 to FS 19 to 1914 - FS 70.

Dang Steven, That sounds like a good ride, plus I could ride east instead of west for a change. Alas, I am unavailable to ride this weekend. Have fun.

Yeah I might be up for that. I was up there Sunday doing a little recon looking for the most technical route that would be fun & doable for big bikes. I got kind of a wierd vibe all of a sudden like I didn't want to be up there alone on a late sunday afternoon in wackey weather and returned without a complete route. What do you think about some back ways including some of the less gnarly parts of the Naches to get to 19 then a more lesurely ride back over 7030? I was planning on going back up this weekend to scout a complete route.

2track and myself are planning on an Olympic Peninsula ride Saturday August 23rd and optional camping Saturday night around Neah Bay.

We are going to ride the area between the Soleduck & Hoh River area just West of Lake Crescent and then camp overnight in the Neah Bay area somewhere.

If someone knows a good place to camp in the Neah Bay area I would be open to suggestions.

Edit: Hobuck campground sounds promising, they have a big open field $15 a tent.

Edit: Forest services roads so Knobbies are recommended.

    cheers,
    -Brian

What time and where, Brian? I'm going to ride Saturday and was looking at the North Slope but it would be cool to ride some new ground.

I PM'd mike to see what ferry he will take and then I can figure out a time to meet up.

We could meet at the 20 & 101 junction???

Also do you know of a good place to have some breakfast between the 20 and Port Angeles on the 101?

Mike will be on the 8:40 ferry so we could meet you at the 20/101 junction at around 9:45?

    Any other takers?
