(February 16, 2012) - Starting the 2012 season off with a bang, the wheel-to-wheel, handlebar-banging action of AMA Pro Flat Track's season-opening doubleheader on the quarter-mile lime rock DAYTONA® Flat Track will once again be recapped in a one-hour same-weekend broadcast on SPEED. This year, however, the stars of the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com Expert Singles division have been moved up to primetime in a broadcast that is scheduled to begin Saturday evening, March 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. PT).
Once we get to the half-miles and miles it'll be cool to see all the brands that should be there. HD, Kawasaki, KTM, Triumph, Ducati, and I'm sure a few I've forgotten.
THE SANTA ROSA MILE RETURNS Decades in the Making! After a 42 year absence, the spectacular two-wheeled action of AMA Pro Flat Track racing returns to the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds on Sunday afternoon, September 30th. Run in 1968, 1969 and 1970, the Santa Rosa Mile spotlighted the top level competitors of the time such as Dick Mann, Gary Nixon, Freddie Nix, Chuck Palmgren, Jim Rice and more wrestling BSA, Harley- Davidson and Triumph machines for dominance on the dirt. In 1968, the late Freddie Nix was the inaugural Santa Rosa Mille winner. Piloting a thundering Harley-Davidson, Nix captured each of the AMA Pro trails four Grand National Miles to claim the title of Mile Master. Factory-level British bikes took the following pair of Santa Rosa Mile Checkers. In 1969, Chuck Palmgren rode a hi-strung Triumph twin to victory and in 1970, Bay Area resident Jim Rice steered his booming BSA to first place. Gentleman Jim won six races that year with a mix if TT, Half-Mile and Mile events. His win at Santa Rosa closed out the GNC run at the Fairgrounds. Now it is back. Be sure to be on hand to witness the return of Americas most spectacular two-wheeled competition. Order your tickets now and be part of this historic event.
I woke up to see the Dairyland Classic on Speed Channel this morning. Sweet. It shared the half hour show On The Edge with boat racing but it was better than nothing. I believe it shows again this afternoon at four pm est. Between World Super Bike, Supercross and Nascar its looks like I'll spend the entire weekend in the man cave.
