It is still too warm here to leave the beach; but I am betting in two weeks I will be in the hills again.

No NCN for me ...or Jock either...he's already back out West, last I heard he was getting snowed on at the rim of the Grand Canyon....and headed to Death Valley next.

I would have liked to meet him. I guess that's what I get for taking myself out of the loop.

I was gonna go do some leaf peep'n today as I slept in yesterday on my first day off. But looking at the forecast while eating brunch and realizing that today might be yucky and rainy.......so Wednesday afternoon leaf peep'n it was.

Heading towards the South Mtns about 1/2 the cotton has already been picked...this field still awaits.

Climbing 181 ....the Brown Mtn overlook looked worthy of a quick stop.

The color does seem to be less than vibrant this year but there's still plenty of green down low so that may change.

Then up by Grandfather Mtn the leaves have already fallen...so it's kind of in between peaks in this area, I suppose.

Nothing like a nice little out-n-back run on 221!

Less traffic, more curves and better colors than the BRP up above....what's not to like?
