War, West Virginia that is. I recently did my first long ride on a scooter. I rode over 2000 miles and through 8 states on my Aprilia Sport City 250 I went from Huntsville, Al to Cleveland Oh via the scenic route and then back. There were lots of curves: Unpaved roads: Historic Places: Scenic beaches: And a lot more. My ride report is here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803404
Talk about a depressed area, War seems like it has fallen upon hard times. The thing I like about the area compared to riding in western NC. is how undeveloped it is.
Not only is it undeveloped but you don't have to deal with a bunch of slow moving tourists that have no clue how to drive/ride on mountain roads. At least that was my experience.
When I did a WVA trip a few years ago I had a similar experiance, in fact, I rode for up to an hour without passing another car either direction at times.
Maybe not but when I rode through West Virginia earlier this year logging trucks weren't much fun though the scenery was lovely.
I was expecting to get stuck behind a lot of logging or coal trucks but I can remember it happening only once.
Great RR. Loved the pics and the route you took. Glad you posted the link here...I haven't wandered into RR for a bit.
According to some reports, War is like the drug capital of WV. Nobody working, 70% on drugs. ( per Playboy )
When I was a Marine, We had an odd commander that would say "Every night I pray for war!". Perhaps he meant War, WV.
