I have a Kawi ER6n and I am finding the seat to be rough on the butt. I'm experimenting with different riding postures and ways to distribute my wieght, but the seat is just harsh. I've even tried "Master Yoda's" method, or whatever it's called, lol... Trying to get better at it... But are there any other ways to make the seat NOT slope forward causing me to sit on my balls? I see sheepskin thinggys, but maybe something to help flatten the seat out a lil? ARGRHRGRGRHRGR!!!!
Ship it to Spencers. He reshapes the ER6 seat nicely. Get the LD option, best $75 I've spent on the bike.
I'm gonna give this a shot. Looks a little easier than I thought. But looks can be deceiving, and they usually are. Might as well give it a shot, cause the stock seat is killin me. Otherwise, I'm in love with my ER6n.
Glad to see the positive comments…..I just sent my Versys seat off to Spencer’s today! I'm also looking for cheap ways to do my EX-500. I treat it like a KLR....mods are pennies-on-the-dollar compared to the other bikes. It starts hurting my rear after about 150-miles. Odd thing is, its more like an abrasion pain than a joint/bone pain. I'm thinking beads may be the cure.
Behold - the "Cheapskin" seat cover. One of my tightwad inventions. VERY comfortable - about $7.00-$10.00 A carpeted toilet lid cover with padding inserted and a non-slip rubber bottom. Your ass will kiss you back for this.
The ER6 seat needs to be reshaped. It has a nasty crown that tends to send your undies into the darkness:huh. It slopes forward such that the jewels are headed towards the tank. Musta been designed by a women
My wife took an old sheepskin car seat cover and transformed it to a sheepskin cover for my bike. That helped. Another option might be a back-a-line / kidney belt.
That's pretty damn clever stuff right there Can you shim the front of the seat on the ER6n with washers or anything to level it out? I'm not sure how they attach to know if there might be something you can put under it to help...
Hmm, yeah I think I'll try something along these lines on my bike before I go fullbore into ripping my seat apart. Unless I could get a seat from a wrecker, but I live in a small city, so, not many wrecks (which is a good thing if you think about it ). Yep, going to try this out today. I'll post pictures later! [EDIT]: What color should I get. My bike is Candy Plasma Blue. Just go with black? LOL Or maybe RED?!?! hahah....
Spencer's mod + alaska leathers sheepskin pad. This combo is super comfy .. I can't say for the ER-6, it worked wonders on my ST1300. If you are riding in heavy rain, a beaded pad will work better since it'll allow the water to drain and not soak your pants. For dry weather though, sheepskin pads can't be beaten.
was just at wallymart and was thinking about that. Rain is going to suck with that pad. And also, wallymart has terrible foam selection IMO... AND I am just wondering about how to cut the foam the right way...
