Thx, we sure would like to get to see Juneau with a local guide. Do you think the 8 hours that the ferry stays there are enough or should we plan a longer stay?

What a good looking boat captain you had! Looks like you had a good time in Soldotna. We continue to enjoy your RR. Hope to see you down the road someday. Jonnie and Carl

I don't know yet, maybe in 5-6 days
We probably take the ferry from Whittier to Valdez, ride up to Tok and then on to Haines. Maybe some side tours along the way depending on the weather

if you are changing ferrys and have 6-8 hours you would certainly have time to do a quick tour of Juneau. You would be able to ride the entire road system...be sure and go "out the road" for some truly spectacular views...go see the Mendenhall Glacier...drive out to north Douglas Island for more big views back toward the Glacier and a side trip up to Eaglecrest. Downtown can be fun if the cruise ships aren't overwhelming it...great museums, history and good food and beer. :1drink
PM me if you would like a phone number and if I am not busy when you get here I would be happy to ride with or take you around in the car.

Yesterday morning I went for a short ride before breakfast, checking out the Girdwood area , picking some nice gravel roads going up the mountains. Pretty impressive

The day before yesterday we went for a ride to Portage Glacier and Whittier ; the weather was perfect and so was the ride . We stopped on the way down there along the river , at the foot of the glacier, we took tons of pictures , we went through the tunnel, we had a nice lunch in Whittier, we walked around the docks , we watched the fishermen , boats coming in and outÂ… what a day! Or just an other day in Alaska

Looks like you may still be on the Kenai Peninsula. If you need any help on your way down to Homer. Don't hesitate to look me up. Enjoy the rest of your trip and keep the pics coming. I love seeing pics of others who have enjoyed this great land.
