Well, against the recommendation of some here I have taken the Jesse's to the painter with more paint. I am going to have them painted copper also and have all black R1200GS stickers on them. I may get them back on and like it or I may puke. If I puke I can always rectify the situation with more paint! Also having the small white sticker

Also having the small white R1200 stickers removed from the side panels and having those repainted. I really appreciate all of the ideas and comments.

I'm with you... I don't think I'd paint the valve covers. However, if you did decide thou want a splash of color there, you can do what I did: Order the BMW aluminum protectors, and then have them either powder coated or painted. They come in the standard silver like the regular bike frames, with "BMW" embossed into them. I had mine powder coated black, and painted the letters.

Here's a closeup of how they turned out:

Those look good. I like the way they turned out. I'm not sure I've seen aluminum ones before, all I can remember seeing are plastic ones.

May be. It looks a LOT like the copper on my R1150Rockster, and on that bike the WHEELS are copper colored too.

I think you should do the wheels but NOT the valve covers, oh no.

Take a good look at the copper/black Rockster. What I DON'T like about mine is the blue frame bits and blue valve covers!

Anyway, nice job, it's fun to modify and play with bikes.

Yep... it'd be pretty boring if we all liked & had the same bike, car, truck, etc.

Yeah, I finally got the stickers for the panniers the other day so I need to get some pics and post them. It looks okay but I'm still up in the air on whether I really like the painted panniers or not. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

The color combo looks great.... just not sure I'm crazy about the copper Jesse's. But hey, that's just me.

I'm thinking the same way. It really does look good but after the smoke cleared I kinda wish I'd just left the Jesse's black. Oh well, it's just paint, It doesn't take much to make them black again!
