So I guess I'm not suprised to see that the 2012 Zuma 50 is now a mini version of the 125. It even includes the floorboard hump so you can't use it for carrying cargo. Sigh.... Guess my 2003 Zuma will hold it's value then. I guess the liquid cooling and FI would be nice to have, but I wonder how it will do in the power department. It's spec says 12:1 compression ratio. Not bad for a 50cc four stroke. Here is a link: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/659/0/home.aspx
But you know what really grinds my gears? The darn Z125 is still air cooled. I know it's a tad more complex but I dream of riding all the time and every time.
What is it about the air cooling that's stopping you? Had an 09 Zuma 125 myself and bought it because of the simple and reliable air cooling. = less to go wrong. Same for my current TU250x, and all the other Suzukis I've owned. (all air or air/oil cooled from 1100 Katanas on down) NEVER had one overheat. (and an 08 XT250) Only bikes I've ever had problems with had liquid cooling. :huh Overheating issues no less = go figure? (none of them were Suzukis) I.M.H.O. as long as it has a NikaSil bore instead of an iron barrel, you're golden regardless if it's only air cooled or not.
Anytime another 2t bites the dust its a sad day There is a review on the Zuma forum (dont knw the exact addy), that confirms all you might have thought . . . A little slower, etc...
Well yea its gonna be slower. But, ultimatly it will be more reliable than the 2stroker. 2 strokers are great, but they ain't for everyone. Its kind of cool. But I don't think the 2 stroker should be discontinued.
With EFI and a high compression ratio, might be just as fast. Certainly should be better on fuel (and oil).
Damn forgot about the injection! Pretty neat for a 49 cc Scoot! I wanna here about a race with it and a not tuned to stroker Zuma 50!
