I had an R1200ST. At the time I believed it to be the most underrated bike in the industry. It does everything. It's fast, stable, great thru turns.

The RT will sit more upright and you'll have more leg room. Between the two of them, more than anything, it will come down to how you want to sit.

love my gs.. but facing another knee op..
So not flat footing is a big concern.

ST /RT I can pretty much flat foot.

Love riding my R1100RS.. figure it would be just like the RS
    with more power.

Had one. Good power, really well built, I thought it looked cool and unique. Also the wind protection is very good considering how small the fairing is.

I sold it because a) not very comfortable, b) really didn't seem to handle that well, as if they had really designed the chassis for the RT and then slapped stubby bars on the chassis to make it a sport bike (although ROCK solid and happy as a clam at 140MPH), and c) the engine had an annoying roughness between 72 and 80 MPH, which is right where I was riding it all the time (RT is probably similar in this regard). Riding it was like a 20 year flashback to my 82 r65, except the ST had about 3x the power.

As said before, it didn't sell that well which is why the stopped bringing it in.

Oh year, the brakes were killer strong. Power-assist worked for me.

A mate at work swears by his. 22000 miles and only one issue - fuel sensor. Loves it and says it's a keeper.

    Well I probably didn't help much - as I dropped a dealer's R1200ST on it's side and did $4500 damage. :deal
Note: it was not a 'lay down' - it was a drop, one second I was braking in a straight line, next second I was sliding on my shoulder behind the bike :kurt

Was a bit if a shame as I had been enjoying it for the previous 45 mins :rofl

I had an ST for a while and never should have traded it in. I got an RS for a little bit more creature comfort. That said the ST was a fantastic bike. I loved the looks (yea I know I'm weird) and the handling. I don't think you would go wrong with one.

I would say go for it. You don't see one on the road every day. :thumb

The ST is a great bike, with nice handling, good protection, excellent lighting, and good looks, IMHO!

    That's an R12RS, not a K bike.

Many have considered the bike and did not buy it because of the face. So what? There are many happy r1200st owners that do like the bike's face. Are the r1200gs and the r1150gs beautiful? I doubt it, but many like them (me too, in a way).

So do you mean the k1300 R Sport, or the k1200 RS from a few years ago?
