This thread is about an alternative to those helmets. You'd have better luck in the flea market.

Got my XL in today after sending the LG back.

MMMM....pads squish my cheeks too much. I taped them together for a few days in the hopes they will shrink up a bit. I'll take it out for a spin this weekend.

Hey....can I get someting to reduce wind noise coming from up under the helmet when I ride....like a skirt......? Are those made?

I rode over to Whidbey Island to buy one yesterday from a fellow inmate.

I like the visibility and its extremely light which was refreshing coming from an HJC modular. I found no head pull below 80 mph, above 80 I could feel the visor was there. Wind noise didnt bother me at all, but I wear in ear headphones so cant even hear my lea vinces on my 950. :D

I like the helmet I found it a bit drafty due to no adjustements for the vents.. You cant close them off and I happend to be riding in about 36 degree weather in the pouring rain. Head felt the draft hear and there but all in all not bad.

Having own an arai xd previously, this helmet has less pull from the visor as the visor is smaller and you can not beat the price of them... I havent tried the hornet from Shoei yet, but I think 120 bucks compared to 600 of the arai is a no brainer..

They do make skirts for normal road helmets, not sure if they make one for a dualsport type of helmet. If you find something then let me know!!

Can someone tell me what's the best head shape to have for a good fit with this helmet?
I scrolled thru several pages of this thread but couldn't find a definative answer.
    Thanks in advance

I have never paid much attention to what shaped heads that certain helmets are supposed to fit.. but I can tell you that this helmet is slightly "rounder" than a Shoei Hornet.

Larry: What size XD did you have? XL? Mine was...I'm trying to get a fit correlation to AFX. FWIW: I sold my XD...it seemed very sensitive (noise wise) to whatever windshield you were behind, and the $$$$$ shields were very very soft, easily scratched, and fogged badly. For the price I was very unhappy with XD.

OOPS...just saw it was a large in both helmet....but that's the correlation

    Thanks

After reading the endless thread, I decided to jump in (for $100, will be tough to beat).

I'll mention that I was a SHOEI deciple until I discovered Scorpion. Will never spend the $$$ on SHOEI or ARAI again until they get with the program and make a helmet that's competitive.

Due to Scopions nice build, fit and overall good quality, I took the leap on AFX.

    Purchased from: http://www.helmettown.com/Shop/Control/MainMenu/fp/cat/247311/set_num/1/menu_num/2/sfv/31740/page/2/SFV/31740

I'll be sure to report back and add my .2c

    Thanks

Any more info on when the color patterns are coming out?

I want to get an AFX, but I'd like to see the all the options first.

Anybody got one? SWMBO would like one of these, but she splits the diff between small/XS. Any suggestions?

IF your order your helmet from DSR Powersports they include a free pair of MSR goggles.

Just got my silver MD from the brown truck 5 minutes ago. I have a textbook Arai "intermediate oval" head. My RX-7 fits like a dream.

    http://www.araiamericas.com/helmets/interiorshapes.pdf

In short, there is NO WAY this helmet will fit my skull. I measured 23" as described in the AFX website, so I should be in a Medium. When I put the helmet on, there's incredible pressure on the front/back of my head, but plenty of room on the sides. Shoei helmets have always felt a little too round for me, but this one is definitely rounder than they are. I think I'd be swimming in a LG, but I'll probably try it anyway.

I even removed the liner and tried it on to make sure there wasn't anything wrong there.

    Bummer. :cry

EDIT: Holy crap is the chin strap long!
