Still a little icy in Idaho to ride. But I tried. Felt really good to get Hobbes out.

    Hi Jay,
Nice to hear from ya man! I think it was fall 2010 I was there. I can't rmember. Too much booze makes the memory fuzzy. Glad ur getting along just fine. I can only imagine.... Trevor and Dad made it safely back from their four weeks in Baja. Dad left today. Things are good here. Just running the biz and living on that small business owner budget.

How in the heck do you keep a bike upright in icy conditions like that, without studs???

Good.. here in rainy NW Oregon. Not much riding going on except the commute to work. Wanting soooo bad for Spring to hurry up and get here so we have a bit more sunshine.

    How's the new business going?

Salem... contract work with the State. Figure with the economy going to crap, the best bet is to work for the gov't. :)

Thinking about doing a ride somewhere your direction this year... will ping you when I get that figured out in case you have time to tag along. Redoing the suspension on the DR650 right now while it's all rainy.

    Hey Tyson and Hobbes,

Discovered your thread a couple weeks ago while researching the proper
Farkles needed for my Tiger800XC on the TigerTales thread.
Just finished reading the entire thread and loved it! Very exciting stuff
you have been doing out there on a 500lb dirtbike ! You have the true
    Spirit of Adventure.
Thanks for all your efforts Riding and Writing. All of us are enjoying it.
Don't know if you have ever heard of TopTier gas. I only heard of it recently
and still have not seen it for sale, but it is supposed to help keep combustion chambers, valves, etc. cleaner due to better detergents in the fuel.
Here is a link... http://www.toptiergas.com/ Might help with that carbon issue you had.

Picked up a 2013 800XC ten days ago. I'm almost a thousand miles into it and loving the ride.

Got pointed to this thread from another a week ago, and have pretty much read it straight through. I like your style. :freaky

The Tiger is replacing my 04 KTM 950 Adventure that I have put about 30,000 miles on in the last two years.

All I need is to get the Tiger's suspension fine-tuned and I think this bike will be with me for a long while. I'm going to drop it off for the first service (only because they said they would do it for free) on Wednesday while I leave for a few days in Big Bend, taking my plated DRZ400E.

Thanks for the inspiring read, wonderful photos and for sharing the adventure with us.

I don't know if you ever got the business with the wheel sensor sorted, but I recall reading that accumulated dust and dirt can obscure the sensor and throw the code. Might be something simple like that.

Also wanted to share an alternative for the custom earphones. I run a Sena Bluetooth headset that connects to my Zumo 660 and to my phone. I can play music to the helmet from either source, plus can communicate with my wife, get turn by turn from the GPS and take phone calls (just because I can doesn't mean I do).

I move the GPS between bikes, which allows me to use Garmin's software to plan routes and load them into it before I leave. I've used it for singletrack, jeep roads, and pavement, and it has been a very useful combination with the headset. I never knew having tunes on a ride could be so nice. I can hear the music fine, even with foam earplugs lightly inserted.

Anyway, lovin' the Tiger, wishing I had roads and vistas like you have so close to your home, but I still have some wonderful adventures in Texas.

    Happy Trails!
