The Grand SOUTH Floridian Tag-O-Rama

EDIT - As of 9/28/08, this has become the SOUTH Florida Tag. The split line is State Route 50. Greater Orlando can be included in the game though (So, something in Orlando can be included, even if it's slightly north of SR50)


Until this past May, I lived in Ohio. While there, many of us ADV folk in Ohio had our own tag game going. It was a lot of fun. It brought some competition, research, friendly ribbing, and most importantly, more riding into many of our lives.....

Since moving here, I've greatly missed the tag game....So, here's my feeble attempt @ making the tag a reality here in Florida....

The rules are simple:

There's a picture posted of a bike in front of a landmark. It has clues (maybe written or maybe in the photo).

Your job is to:
1. Figure out where the photo was taken.
2. Ride your bike there and duplicate the picture.
3. Ride your bike back and post the picture here in the thread.

If you are the first to do all three tasks, you win.

Your prize??...You get to post the next new tag....

1. Since the idea is to get as many people contributing as possible, we must limit this to paved and/or hardpacked roads. Nothing that you wouldn't want to take your streetbike down.
2. File photos are allowed for posting a new tag.
3. File photos are NOT allowed for tagging someone else's posted tag.... You must ride to the tag location and take a new picture in order to actually win the tag.

NO WHINING - There will be occasions where you ride all the way there and come back to post your photo only to find out that someone else beat you to it. Tough shit - Get over it.

There will be people who go in the middle of the night to get a tag...It's very addictive - Proven by this quote from the post of one of the Ohio Tag Players - Damn, this is like a drug. I go out, score, race home, tie the tourniquet on, and upload the sweet rush into my veins! I can't do anything else before I do that. Right now I got a morning crap brewing so bad I'm standing up at the keyboard, back arched, grunting and squeezing my sphincter shut. Mind over (fecal) matter... must upload pic...

Clue:
At the intersection of 2 roads. The first is very appropriately named. The second road shares it's name with an artist who:
1. Was born in 1920.
2. The first artist to make Hilton Head Island hs permanent residence.
3. Studied at the Citadel, Clemson University, and the Atlanta School of Art.

I know the 2 roads are going to be something real easy, but I have searched around on the internet and can't find anything about artists who lived in Hilton Head, haha.

Damn....Bummer - I just tried the same thing and got no where....But when I searched the guy's name from the road, it was the first thing to come up.....


I'll narrow it down a bit for you (Additional clues are OK )

It's in SW Florida in a county that starts with the letter G....

Had to drive via satellite, too far away here in the panhandle.

Which reminds me - once you've figured out the tag and posted your picture, you need to disclose the location of the tag. Sometimes people are actually unable to find them online, but we just like to let everyone know where it was, AFTER it has been obtained
