I really enjoy the Day-in-the-life-of threads. Figured that I would do my part to entertain the inmates and share my little corner of the world. I think I will start by going back a few years to the day I brought the Ulysses home. Great bike that carried me to lots of wonderful places around the state...
Folks that know me know that I would often take the Ulysses in places Erik never intended it to go. I really needed something to get a dirty with. So along came Katie.
Little did I know that this was to be one of the last pictures I would take of Ulysses. Went down on the Saturday ride at the BWDR Fall Gathering last year. Doesn't look too bad in this picture But the more serious damage starts to become evident on close inspection Bent front wheel, forks, rear subframe etc etc etc. Yeah, she was totalled, but at least I walked away with no injuries. The helmet certainly did its job.
If one looked at my profile, it mentioned that I wouldn't mind having a KTM Adventure in my garage. So it only made sense that when I killed Ulysses, she would be replaced by a bit of orange. And I even got to keep the plate. Prophetic perhaps? So, now I am pretty much up to date, and will continue this thread as I continue to explore. Lots of interesting stuff out there.
Anything that on a map makes you wonder why they didn't route the nearest major road that way as it's a shorter distance is a good candidate. Also, I highly recommend River Road from the PA side of the Delaware next to Narrowsburg up to Equinunk. It starts off pavement but it's narrow and very much like a roller coaster. It turns dirt after awhile and the last bit is kinda hairy for something that is supposed to be a road.
Jax, thanks for the picture of Ulysses at BWDR. I didn't remember that picture being taken. Seeing her just before her last ride almost brings a tear to the eye. On a different note, it turns out Ulysses was an organ donor. Her top box is now mounted on Mattie. KTM and Buell both use Hepco Becker luggage. The top rack is the same. Looks a little funky, but I didn't see any reason to spend $500 for a trunk when I had one that works just fine. I am going to write "In Memory Of" around the Buell logo on the case.
That is Watkin's Glen SP in New York. Beautiful place, and not too crowded if you avoid race weekends.
Nice day here in southern PA today, and I really needed a good ride. First order of business is to get my first picture for the Waffle House Rally. Stumbled across a covered bridge...bonus We do have some road hazards here in Pennsylvania that are not found everywhere. Every so often, you need to stop and smell. No flowers right now, so checking out the lichen will have to do. For Sale: Open and airy floor plan. Good exterior views from every room. Needs a little TLC. The Susquehanna River is the biggest natural feature this area. Just a nice road through the forest This is probably my best on-the-fly picture yet. Love it!
