Small engine ???
This isnt an mc but I figure yall can field it! I have a 20 hp Honda 4stroke that starts perfectly and runs at idle perfectly. Th problem is when I give it throttle it dies. To stop this I pull out the choke and it runs ,surges a little but runs pretty well. If I have the choke on at idle after start it dies. I am guessing it is starving for gas. The filter is fine and it is getting gas to the carb. What could cause this?

Sounds like something (krud) is blocking a secondary port in the carb. I don't know what kind of carb you have, but if it has any type of secondary port, that would be my guess.
Idle circuit primary circuit secondary circuit Blast it with some b12 carb cleaner (off the engine)

Yup, its running lean on the top end. Clean out the carb paying attentin to the jets ond orifices. Also, look for air leaks from cracks, dried up orings, etc on the carb to head manifold. It may be sucking air at higher RPM's.

Then I headed over to where my girlfriend works. Greg, the boss, followed us outside and kept trying to tell me about how he went to Las Vegas one time on a motocycle. I was like, "oh-kay, that's great Greg." Just back from Prudhoe Bay, IMO it was really worth the trip, AK is a beautiful place & you need lots of time to take it all in. I'm looking forward to returning & exploring some places i didn't have time to ride.RIP Ron Melton |
