Fought getting the seat back on for 30 minutes, had to mod my bracket.

Seat fits like crap and looks the same.

Is this a bad tank or are they just all shoddy?
My 2007 does the same thing with the Clark tank. No matter how I tried, I just could NOT get the front bracket to catch the stud on the tank. So now it sits high, just like yours. Not sure where I'm going to go from here.

spacer or washer the seat knob out a bit. You need to engage the tank knob right before you push down and foward where the lower part engages the frame. Then push the seat hard forward from the back to get the seat bolts alligned. Mines been on and off enough times I got it down pretty good. And yes there will be a bigger gap at the tank side panels, don't sweat it.

I also have the 3.8gal tank that holds fuel in the wings, it has it own problems.

LOL!...yeah, that's a free prototype 650B size rim, and I'm too cheap and lazy to lace up the available black one now.

The bike accelerates fine and at about 5000rpm, it misses a beat and then keeps climbing.
On the highway in 6th gear, it will do it more often.
Is this going to get worse?
The bike is stock and starts like a top.

Mine did this occasionally when it was stock.... DynoJet Stage II, K&N and FMF Q4 fixed it (and also offers several other benefits)

+1, my Clarke fits the same way. I used a longer bolt to catch the front part of the seat, rear fits ok but the radiator side panels dont line up under the seat. I learned to live with it, she's no show bike.

My clarke fits the same way, but the bike's too dirty most of the time to notice. I don't even bother with the seat to tank bolt.
I led a ride yesterday, with some orange thing a majigs, I took for granted that they could ride further than they could see, so I had to get some gas trucked out to us.

I like my big ugly tank that doesn't fit very well!

Clarke Tank fits like $hit

I guess if they all fit that way then they are just made wrong.

It is a dirt bike, but there is still no reason to not make something right if you are going through the effort to make it at all.

I don't do things half assed and it just bothers me to pay hard earned money for half assed workmanship.

Flynlo - those hills look like they have some fun riding behind you! Is that Hong Kong or mainland? I always assumed Hong Kong didn't have any green open places left...

Are your 2011 fuel injected or carbed?

What a blast! The bike is awesome especially if you play with the clickers: more firm in front, more firm compression in rear, less firm rebound. Rock and Roll!

Regarding the Clarke tank. I knew it had issues before i purchased mine, I decided the fit was good enough. Clarke should have a note on their site saying this tank doesnt fit perfectly. As I said over on KF I believe the tank was made for the KLX 300 and just happens to fit the KLX250s, if a little poorly.
Dan

Here is a shot of my tank bolt fix. Longer bolt with some bushings.

My fit.

Anyone have experience with HID lights for the klx 250s? Just wondering because I was looking at purchasing the X2 HID light kit and throwing it on my 06 along with the Trailtech Vapor.

Actually, I might have this also... I only notice it when tooling down the highway in 6th. Usually ~65 @ 6500.. it'll be humming along and then just kind of 'hiccup'. Very quick and doesnt seem to affect anything.. Does this sound like the same thing you have? I noticed on my XT225 also btw...

FWIW I have a Q4 and jetting... so I guess the mods didnt fix it... whatever IT is...

I think there's a Gremlin under the tank.
I only hope it will not get worse in the future.
