Finally got around to putting on the Powerbomb header laying around in my garage.

And I replaced the Powercore that I ran with the stock header with a new Q4.

The Powercore on this 351 version was louder than the one on my racebike. This is a noticeable difference. I like it.

I have a little-used Powercore slip-on if anybody is looking for one.

My other ride is a klr650. I got the klx for the wife to learn on but have found that since its so light I have much more fun driving hers offroad. It can do things that my Klr just shouldn't.

New KLX owner

Hey guys,

New KLX owner here. Picked up a 07 with some good mods . . B&B kit, Upgraded Carb . . ECT. The few things I am trying to look for is upgrading the springs and the perfect sprocket combo. I have two wonderful kids that are 1 year and newborn. so money is in the equation.

Springs
I will be doing light road travel with a heavier focus on dirt, single track, low speed Technical riding. I want to have a load rate around 285LBS. (myself and gear) so any suggestion?

Sprockets
I dont really want to swap out sprockets, I'd like to just have a good combo that when running around 60MPH I am not going to put a lot of stress on bike. I dont plan on running the interstate but if I need to hope on it to get from trail to trail I would like to have the power. With that being said I would also like to be able to get the front end off the ground easier.

So feel free to suggest away and thanks in advance

Does anybody have any pictures of their KLX with the Alaska Leather buttpad made for dual sports? My seat, I'm quickly discovering, is a torture device for anything over 30 miles. I wear bike shorts with a gel pad built in, but that's not quite enough.

Installed the Zeta 3-finger levers on my 2010 KLX250s. Perfect clearance with the Moose Handguards. The Zetas are a perfect fit and include the switch actuator tabs for brake lights (and whatever the clutch side does). They also fold away from the bars if you happen to crash and they want to bend that way. Due to that forward articulation, they also have stops on them so you can move them out if you want more room when they are at rest. Really impressed with these.

http://www.zeta-racing.com/lever/piv..._cp/index.html

2008+ KLX250S Part #s:

3-finger brake lever: ZE41-3145
4-finger brake lever: ZE41-4145
3-finger clutch lever: ZE41-3127
4-finger clutch lever: ZE41-4127

Comparison of factory and Zeta lever- factory are completely cast, Zeta's are machined.

Installed with Moose handgaurds:

Welcome to the KLX world! There are several spring options and for that weight you're definitely going to want to upgrade if it's still stock. I used Race Tech springs in forks and rear, and their gold valves in the forks. There is at least one other company with comparable product. Are your sprockets still stock 14/42? If so, you could try a 13 up front and should still be able to do 60. I'm running a 45 on the rear now and switch between 13, 14 & 15 up front depending on what I'm doing. See gearingcommander.com

Check out "Seat Concepts". They sell replacement foam and cover kits. Haven't had a chance to ride mine yet but lots of good reviews over in the Kawi forum. If you can do without the seat for a while I now think it would be worth it to send it to them and have them do the install. DAMHIK.

It really ran quite well with that setup.
I've decided to put my money into suspension moreso than power on my 2007 KLXs.

I have everything I need to rejet laying around - so a couple questions. Lutz recommends a 122 Keihin MJ. I have a couple DJs laying around - a 120 and a 124. Which one would be closest to a Keihin 122? If they're both a little off - maybe I can order a Keihin. Good source?

I'd also like a go to a an aftermarket filter. Any recommendations - Uni, K&N, etc?

I know the DJ kit includes a lighter spring. I'm making it up as I go from parts I already have. How many coilss do I clip from the slide spring for better throttle response?

7/64ths or 1/8th on the slide hole?

Thanks again.

Got a Sargent for my KLX. Love it. That being said, I had a Seat Concepts for my Strom and really liked it too.

For what they cost, why not just order the right jets? http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/search?term=jet

UNI is great. K&N can be controversial, but most feel they're OK for street more air / less filtering, but risky in dusty / off-road conditions. I'd go UNI.

Thanks Jon. Don't know how I missed the jets at RMATV. I have an order awaiting a few more items to fulfill the free shipping. Now which series of Keihin MJ do we take for the KLX?

I haven't had the carb out yet cause I don't want it unrideable while I'm waiting. So I have no measurements to go by for the Kehin series.

Uni it is. I've never had a K&N - but I hear of a few members that have them.

One more question - I noticed my KLX has dogbones labeled 117mm. Is this the stock length or did I inherit a shorter set designed to raise the rear?

Thanks IDRDR. I finally ordered a couple jets (122 and 125) from RMATV. Decided to keep it in the Keihin family since I'll be using the N1TC needle from my old KLX300. I think the N1TC is designed to work with the inner profile of the keihin jets but I wouldn't wanna bet on that same situation with the DJ jets I had on board.

Also picked up a Uni, 13T front, new front tire and a few other goodies.
