Orange to defense of the "piGS"...

G-day Shane!

I know that as a recent convert to the Orange side, you are currently revelling in the new found pleasures of all that which is KTM-esque...

I also understand that you have quite a few BMW miles (GS 1150 / 1200 ?) under the belt also...?

Have you tried the new HP2...? Which is after all... (by and large) the production version of the HPN built dakar bikes in the photo... less the big tanks and fairing... I have to say I was impressed just how nimble a bike it was and streets ahead of its GS sibblings in more technical off road applications...

It's just the HP2's pricetag that scared me... personally I'd go for an LC8 (Adv or SuperEnduro)... because with the spare cash I could put a 450cc enduro bike in the shed beside it...

But as a long distance extreme/adventure turer (a' la LC8 Adv.) a HP2 with a bigger tank would be attractive...

Nah - HP2's outa my price range mate.

Ridden the 950 Adv - that's what made me want Orange.
Only drawback is the lack of fuel capacity on the 950.
That's why i went the Rallye - 45l of fuel - great handling on dirt - plenty of grunt

The main reason i like it over the BM is it lets me cruise the dirt at a comfortable pace and have a look around at the passing scenery.Where as on the BM your concentrating a lot harder and after a long day it is more tiring than the Rallye.

And when i want to cut loose i just feel heaps more confident on the Rallye.

There is no denying that the pig is great for long tar hauls - but living here in cobar i'm finding i'm doing less of that because as Frank Warner says the roads around here are deadly boring.
My 0.02c anyway.

Shane
