Finally pulled the trigger on a 650K5

I got real lucky and got a really clean, red K5 cheap. Everyone keeps asking if it is new. Came with handguards, heated grips, centerstand and crash bars. I doubt it if the bike ever seen a dusty road. Bought and serviced at the same place I bought it (guy was a commuter and traded it in for the 1000). I'm really please with it and appreciate all the info I got from this website. Bill

New DL1000

I've been a long time lurker on the forum. Great Forum, I did much of my research for the DL on this site.

I have a KLX 400, but wanted an Adventure or Sport Tourer.

This week I picked up my new 07 DL1000.

Only a couple of hundred miles so for, but I have to say, this is a sweet bike.

Now to add some miles to the odometer!

Picked up my new 07 - 650 this week--the handsome silver one--

The shop was 40 miles? from home--it had 1 mile on it when I got and 123 miles on it when I got home--- Love it-love the power-love the smoothness-then again my other bike is a KLR650--I love it too but there is a difference. They both have their place in my lifestyle. Kay

Wicked Wee Stroms will overrun ADV! and I'm doing my part.

I just picked up my DL650AK7. Just had to ride it in the cold rain. (New Toy Syndrome, it's part of an important lesson my nephew taught me when he was three. Have toy, must play!)

Warning to the Collective: Assimilate at your own risk.

Yup a whole whopping 10km on the clock. I'm definetly in contention for the high mileage prize.

Now I have to go read the manual on how to adjust the windscreen. I thought at 5'6" I'd be too short to get buffeted.

Riding it home, I passed a mother and child. The kid looked and waved. Yup after eight years off a streetbike, it's good to be cool again.

Mike

Uh - I can't remember the brand of grips (sigh)
'Zook handguards
GIVI crashguards
Kappa cases (49L top, 40L x 2 side)

Only mission-critical farkle left is a skidguard/bashplate/rockstopper. I'm gonna query a local welder to see what might be done.

Wee-29 days and counting.

I'm thinking of bumping up from a DR650 to a DL1000. Can someone provide with me the HP numbers. Is it more or less the same as the KTM 950? 100 hp or so?

around 90 to the back wheel... I did remove the secondaries, but it is stock otherwise. The torque is the number you want... thats where you'll feel the 1000. also it cruises at 95...

Madstad bracket

Do any of the assimulants know if there is a discount through Advrider for the madstad bracket for the windshield? I have heard others say "the best $69 ever spent"..........the price on the Madstad web site is $89.

Thanks in advance. You know us Stromers......cheap asses we are, but not as bad a KLR'ers.

I don't know about a discount, I paid the full price. But the Madstad with my MP Cycle Designs screen is worth whatever it costs. I've found that to be a GREAT combination on the DL1000.
