Thanks man! (90 hp is more than enough) and I'm sure the torque is the big selling point.

I just recently printed a picture of the Big Strom and stuck it to the fridge door. I'm waiting for a reaction from you know .

This is a great thread

I'm looking to add to the stable to keep my K1200RS company at times and I think I have narrowed it dow to ONE bike.......

The 1000DL ....I'll buy slightly used and use it for a planned trip out west this August..plenty of time to place add-ons on

Anyone in NYC area looking to unload? Know of someone? I'm ready to take the plunge!

Weeeeeeeee!

I love my DL-650. I have put over 6000 mi on it since Aug 21st when I got it as my first bike. It's fun in the canyons, its fun on dirt (although I suck at that), and its even fairly fun at the track (small track). WEE!

Blue 05 DL 1000 Best Bike Ever

My brothers and I flew to Toledo OH. and took delivery of 4 K5 1000's at the dealer and left on an 8,000 mile ride home. The damn things are bullet proof. We had 2 "problems" on the whole trip (well with the bikes). A mysterious electrical problem in Roswell NM. turned out to be a loose battery cable and a slight leak on an oil line that just needed a bit of tightening. Thats it!

We added a Wee and another brother for the last 1500 miles. Total of over 34,000 miles.

Have a look at our web site www.starchertrip.com I hope to do an overhaul this spring and add some more of the 4,000 pictures I have and back fill all the writing I didnt get to do on the trip.

Also, if I were to look for a used 650 or 1000, where would you recommend I look? Is there a group or forum for V-strom owners (like there is for the FJR: www.fjrforum.com)? Thanks.

Try http://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/ and http://www.jackphelps.com/vstrom/vstrom.htm and http://vstrom.info/

Lots of info--and while most of us haven't seen the rare gray and black piliated (just kidding) ABS model (tho' you'll find a few out there--weigh in please) it would appear that in fact you cannot turn it off.

Love my 06.

De-sticker your Strom

Heat will work. Hair dryer or heat gun carefully. Peal gently--don't use metal tools. Comes off the slightly knobby black plastic easily. Metal tank a little more difficult. Scrape carefully (get the hint--don't use yer pocket knife!); then use something mild like WD-40 or mineral spirits to clean up the residue.

There are 2 fuses for the ABS system above and behind the battery. It's very easy to pull them and deactivate the ABS, leaving ordinary braking action.

I've voted!

My '07 DL1000:

So far it has exceeded every expectation I've had. Givi E450 topcase on the way. Though not in the picture, I really like the Cortech supermini magnetic tank bag, already tested for it's ability to stick even in the windiest of conditions. Nice compact tank bag.

A claw hammer isn't terribly attractive either.. but you can't build a house with a picasso. At some point a thing will wind up resembeling what it does.
