Question Cam

Hey Steve...
How is that 148x9 cam. Sounds like you have run it. Is it an all around or mid to top. Xrs is wanting me to go with a cam they have called x9. But they haven't been able to get me specs on it yet.

Cool. 10.5 it is. As far as pipes, I have the FMF Q4, but should I get the bigger header?

I do think one nut fell through the cam chain assembly because I can't find it but I'm taking the cam chain off tonight as well as the head.
Steve, I'll pull the clutch cover off as well. At this point I want to upgrade the motor with the XR head work.

Man I'm lucky, but I'm not giving up!

CHECK THAT CAM CHAIN REALLY WELL..

IF that nut went down that way it might have nicked, chunked, beat that cam chain,,look at it really closely, and the gears it runs on,,,,,,,,,barring that,,i`d do what MCMA111 said,,adjust it up properly and see what happens

I have the Mega Cycle 173x25 cam in my XR600 w/ 654 piston and in my son's and buddies 2 XRL's. All the XRL's are 675cc. It works well. Actually I haven't even replaced the valve springs. All stock springs. This is a drop in cam. Works with a stock piston, springs. No mods necessary to install.

I was thinking of the 173x9 for Wattner because he will be doing the 720cc and with the longer duration and higher lift it will give the engine more time to get the fuel charge into the cylinder.

Go here: http://www.megacyclecams.com/

Down load their catalog. Page 30/31 for the XR/XRL specs.

No need. Just grind the inside welds at the head connection.

B.

I saw that within minutes of it's posting. I didn't think it looked as good as it does due to his picture of the fin. I thought about it though. RK chain is good stuff.

Sorry to hear about the leg...........

Can i call you Hop Along Cassidy now

Kiddin.....

Look,,unless you like alot of noise,,get the FMF Q4......you really are not going to get anymore flow than that, and it sounds really nice..

Well honestly,,,,,,,yes

My chain, if you shake it up and down ,now rattles ,,,the front sprocket has hooked teeth,,,and the rear teeth are really bad,you can move the chainback and forth on the sprocket teeth...

Think i should wait a little longer

River run 2010

Just got back from a trip up the Mississippi from Prairie Du Chein to La Crosse, Drove up on the Iowa/MN side. It was a great ride. The XR worked very well with it's new Highway pegs and wind screen. The new wind screen does not buffet at all. And let me tell you it was plenty windy. We did a small section of gravel road (I was the leader with the only GPS) on accident. The cruiser dudes were pretty whinny about the 2.5 miles of gravel.
