Been there and cursed that. Seal it up real good, media blast and thirty minutes later looks like new. Worth every penny at harbour freight.

Damn, that's impressive

Did you have a leaking head gasket by chance ? I had the same issue but on the other side of the engine which is what led me to strip the head etc.

That's all I did to it. It will oxidize some I suppose but it is a dirt bike and it will be dirty again.

This is a $100 engine I bought last winter to rebuild. I don't really know what was leaking but I am guessing everything. I now affectionately call it the money pit. It's been a great learning experience though and fun to boot. Keeps me out of the bars.

I tried oven cleaner and every solvent I could buy and wire brushes and finally bought a 60lb unit from HF. It was like magic. I used coarse glass beads on this.

Seems like it was a little better than $100. It is about the size of a 5 gal bucket on wheels. The media is about $.80 a pound and it goes fast.

Actually I've seen very good results with walnut shells on aluminum. Doesn't eat into the aluminum either like most other media can.

If you have a compressor and the attachment for spraying air, you can make a really cheap blaster.

Get a few feet of rubber tube about the size of fuel line and a few boxes of baking soda. Then cut a small slit along the hose a few inches from one end and stick in the attachment, but don't block the tube. Now stick the other end into a box of baking soda and WHALA! You just made yourself a redneck media blaster!

I think I read how to do that on this thread a while ago... but I'm not sure.

Well I got the brake bracket to put my dirt wheels back on. Gone through 3 tubes in 2 days. One front and two back. The front was the cause of letting someone else put the tire on and not putting the tube in right. The rear I think I just spun the tire on the rim and ripped the tube. Not going to make that mistake again. Ordered some rimlocks.

Also decided to go back to the white side panels and put the 600r panel on the left.

I definitely have to do the rear fender mod, looks good a lot better than the stock one.
